NY/Logan 2010?

Post by Chain_Gang »

I heard that this game may be in the works of returning.

One of the main reasons.....HUGE GATE and in this economy probably a smart decision.

Thoughts????

Won't be in 2010. Logan's schedule is set for next year.

Beyond that I don't know what contracts have been signed. While the gate is great, I don't now what Logan gains from playing a Division V team.

I would love to see this series renewed again. The two teams have not played since 2002, and this has been the longest they have ever gone without playing each other.

No team can pack Boston Field like Logan. It's not even close. This has always been a huge gate game for both schools.

When I was in high school in the 90's, NY vs. Logan was THE GAME for NY. We were more excited for this game than any other game on the schedule. It was a measuring stick for how good we were.

I don't see logan putting a D-5 team back on there schedule when they are trying to make they playoffs and host in D-2 Region 7.

Gotta go with Locos on this one? Why besides sentimental value? How about a jamboree?

A jamboree would be fine. Logan doesn't gain anything playoff wise from playing you, and that's our main point of concern since we joined DII.

I'd love a jamboree.

Great crowds between these two. I can remember when this game was a big deal throughout the '90s.

The gate and travel would be the only attractive thing to this match up.

Logan is not even close to the same team they were in 2002 and I don't think it would take NY long to realize that this would no longer be a good matchup for them.

In a multi decade series NY would win occasionally, but it would be when they were up and Logan was down.

It would also be a no win situation for Logan, when they win they are suppose to and if they lose they are no good bums for losing to a small school.

I also think that the smaller school puts their players at a higher risk for injury when they play the larger schools. I don't know if there has ever been stats kept on injury frequency related to different school size or not. I think it would be interesting to read. Having said that there is probably a higher risk of injury on a poor team playing a good team, even if they are the same enrollment.

I am not from Logan.
I am not a Logan fan.
I do not dislike Logan.
I am not from Nelsonville.

Jamboree would be fine. Otherwise, this is a bad deal for Logan. Little competition for Logan & fewer computer points. Non-league Logan games should stick to playing D-I & IIs for the points & competition.

Would love to see this backyard war and yes the attendance would help each school. But in the days of battling for playoff points it does not make sence. Then again a game with athens would still have a good gate and we would get more points. Of course the bullpuppies ran away from there commitment to play Logan!

Nelsonville for the Jamboree game (win/win) and let's talk to our friends in Thornville about a week 3 match-up!

NY and Logan split the decade in the 90's, 4 wins each (they didn't play in '90 or '91).

In 1994, NY defeated Logan 20-19. Logan won the SEOAL that year.

Bring on the Chiefs in 2011.
The class of 2012 has never lost to Logan. But it was a good game last year! Logan had a chance to tie or take the lead at the end of the game. But a last second pass fell incomplete!

While there are pros and cons to thing game being played, the one that jumps out at me as being odd is the agrument against concerning playoff points.

NY and Logan played for years when only the top 2 teams in each region qualified for the playoffs and then the top 4 teams. Now 8 teams qualify. It seems to me that Logans playoff chances were hurt more back when these two played nearly every year and only the top 2-4 teams qualified. Now 8 teams qualify. In terms of playoffs, Logan would be less hurt today than they were back then because of this.

The other arguments against make sense, I just don't get the playoff argument when 8 teams qualify today instead of 2 or 4.

If Logan plays us and cuts out a D-1 or D-2 non-league game they would go from hosting at a 2 seed to being a 4 seed maybe a 5 seed. As bad as it pains me. Right now NY could only hang for maybe a half, after that it would be all Logan. You never know what will happen in 5 to 10 years but for right now I don't think this game will happen.

It could be a different story with Angle and Mays gone!
Logan would get more playoff points from NY than a D2 team with 1 or 2 wins.

Maybe Logan can schedule Athens. If so, I would like to schedule a come-together-and-make-each-other-feel-good session before the game. Then a happy session afterwards. :122245

I think it would be a nice week three pick up for Logan. You get much more for the playoffs from Ny than you do Hamilton township. Ny should be stonger the next few years than they are this year. They will continue to win 7 or 8 games a year. NO second level points from Hamilton this year at all.. I dont think it would be the end of the world for Logan. Nice to see NY stepping up to the plate as far as scheduling goes. Good luck to Both. Jamboree would be cool if other things dont work out.

We can all be cute but realistically, does this game make sense today? No!
