Re: WK6 Athens (4-1) @ Logan (0-5)
I have a feeling that 20 year drought is about to come to an end.

The thing said most a few years ago was ... "Athens won't be good, but they wont be bad either, after Burrow graduates. But the year after that they are gonna be horrible."Raider6309 wrote:This could get ugly fast. Athens offense is getting better every week
I bet I heard that a thousand times. Don't underestimate the Athens coaching staff and the program they have built.

They said that during 2011 with Devon Sharp. I like Athens using two running backs

This Athens Bulldog coaching staff has produced winning teams for YEARS. The tradition started before the state final team and will continue for years to come. these are Hall of Fame coaches at AHS. RIP Coach Boston a HOF human being

That is sad to hear about his passing. He was huge to Athens Countycolsoh wrote:This Athens Bulldog coaching staff has produced winning teams for YEARS. Ryan Adams can tie Don Eskey for most wins(77) in school history with a win this week. Hopefully my math is right

Re: WK6 Athens (4-1) @ Logan (0-5)
Easy there Raider, your four wins come against teams with a combined total of 5 wins.Raider6309 wrote:This could get ugly fast. Athens offense is getting better every week

Saw films of Athens win last night and their QB looks good.

Yep, he's a good one and smooth. Throws a beautiful ball and looks relaxed back there. I thought the whole team looked pretty good. Chiefs better prepare hard for this one. Athens by double digits. The Chiefs are just way too down, and more down than I actually thought.

The QB, Sano, didn't even take over until late in the 2nd game vs Canal. He had been preparing all of August to be an OLB and TE. I think he is just now starting to settle in.noreply66 wrote:Saw films of Athens win last night and their QB looks good.
I'm not sure I have ever seen a team change so much over the course of five weeks. The Athens squad that took the field vs Warren week 1 would get beat by 4 TD's if they played the week 5 Athens team. It's like night and day what coach Adams, coach White (OC) and coach Goodwin (DC) have been able to do with this collection of athletes from the start of the season until now.

Although I'd love for Logan to take Athens out back, that simply isn't gonna happen, Athens by several scores.
With the loss on Friday night, Logan is now the only team in Region 7 that is winless.

Re: WK6 Athens (4-1) @ Logan (0-5)
The last Athens win against Logan was a 50-21 game at Logan in 1995. After that win Athens had its worst 10 years in school history with only those couple good years with Grant Gregory. Logan on the other hand some of its best teams. But since Athens left the SEOAL, Athens has been the far superior program.
In 12 years after that game Athens only won 34 games and lost 86 games
In 9 years after the SEOAL Athens has won 75 games and lost 22 games

Raider-
Tennessee just beat Florida (hadn't beat the Gators since 2004).
Athens going to end the dreaded Purple Streak against Logan (That should have ended in 2002 and 2003 football seasons.) Those (6-0) and (34-30) losses by my teams still bring back memories of what could have been. The heartbreak in the mud and the goal line stand.
Also, I believe Athens is undefeated at the New Logan Field. Is it (2-0)? I can't remember but Raider will.
93 you're correct sir-
Athens has emerged as an Aerial Threat first Week One squad with a few weapons to what it is now in a Balanced Threat with a plethora of Weapons.
Dickelman/Kostival/Albin are 3 talented Receivers...
Sano/Casteel/Roback are shredding the ground...
and Athens O-Line is leading the way with one of the beat group of Lineman I've ever seen at AHS. (Props to Coach Lucas for his efforts)
Not to mention that Athens Defense lead by Tanner Tritipo is as solid as it comes...
The Dreaded Purple Streak Ends Friday!
Go Bulldogs!

Athens got beat by Marion-Franklin in Logan that one year,I was at that one

The Purple streak might end but the stain will always remain. That never comes out in the wash. You can buy a new one but then the streak will come back.questionmark wrote:Raider-
