Week 10: (8-1) Raceland KY @ (6-2) Ironton

A must win for Ironton to get a home game. Also coming off a loss to Jackson 33-21. Thoughts on this one.

Ironton showed improvement from first game of Season but also showed fatigue in second have of the game.
A loss is never good but this may allow the players and coaches what needs to happen to advance not only in week 10 but also the post season.

TIGERS need this win and WILL play at home vs coshocton week 11

should be our 2nd hardest game of year, raceland will bring it dont be fooled by their loss to ashland!!!

raceland has only given up 6 points in last 3 games and have 3 shutout games and 2 games they only gave up 6 points in!!

GO TIGERS

got in late last night, ate me a turkey pot pie, and had to hit the rack. the mrs. had to work early.

but this game went much as I expected. it is a game that had a great playoff atmosphere.great seeing gma1 there at the game and many other seopers. the difference in the game last night was the line play of Jackson and the excellent play of their qb, who has excellent play fakes, and will gash you to pieces running the ball. he had a great arm. he threw a touchdown pass that was right on stride that could have been compared to any throw at any level for accuracy. ironton's line was bigger, in fact they are dinosaurs. but Jackson's line was quicker and executed better on both sides.

ironton looked so much more improved since the burg game. they looked very confident and aggressive.they ran the ball extremely well on the ironmen, but ironton basically has no intermediate passing game. all we threw basically the long balls in predictable situations. our qb was on the run all night. jacksons d-line is quick and aggressive, and we weren't blocking them long enough. but we blocked well on the running plays. coach andy hall at Jackson has a very nice program there at Jackson.great bands, great atmosphere. great stadium. it was an awesome night of football.

so glad these 2 programs are balling again. ironton is going to be a hard out in division 5. but it'll be hard to get out of our region with Columbus bishop Hartley in it. the beat Columbus desales last night fairly handily.but the fighting tigers have done it before. I remember a 6-3 ironton team, that beat Columbus bishop Watterson to advance to the state championship game at Zanesville I believe. it's starting to look like the ironton teams of old. we must be able to pass though against the bigger more talented teams. or at least show the threat of it.

classy move by Jackson at the end of the game,by andy hall they were ready to likely score again from the 2 with about 17 seconds left. and chose not to take another play. that showed me great respect.and made me very proud of the ironmen coaching staff.

a couple things that concerned me moving forward with ironton is the ability for the o-line to sustain blocks longer, our secondary letting people get behind us.and something that really concerned me, and Jackson had an excellent qb, was the fact that Jackson was splitting out 4/5 recievers, and we were not sending enough people out to cover their recievers.i'm sure scouts are licking their lips over this. we must correct that.-----------------but overall ironton played a very gutsy game. there was no intimidation on the tigers part and they were certainly in the game.jackson was all they were advertised to be. I'd love to see an Athens/Jackson game. what a game that would be. from what I'm hearing ironton dropped to 5 in their region. which would knock you out of a home game, if the season ended that way, but the fighting tigers can probably move back in the top 4 if they beat the raceland rams at home Friday. either way we are talking playoffs after a 2 year hiatus. I'm very proud of the fighting tigers coaching staff, and how well the players have developed through out the year. next week should be a dandy with raceland.-------great atmosphere last night, wonderful weather, greatseeing dear friends. and just a blessed day to be alive. proof that the good lord loves a great southern ohio football game by 2 powerhouse programs, YTB.

raceland will be tough, but they've not faced anyone the likes of ironton to date. this should be a stiff test for both squads.

BAIT'S COLD HARD FACTS FOR THE RACELAND@IRONTON GAME

IRONTON IS 6-2-------------------------------------------RACELAND IS 8-1
Ironton's records of their opponents is 51-30
Raceland's record of their opponents is 29-34
Ironton has outscored their opposition 263-183
Raceland has outscored their opposition 372-113
Ironton is averaging 32.8 points a game------while their opponents have averaged 22.8 points a game.
Raceland is averaging 41.3 points a game----while their opponents are averaging 12.5 points a game

raceland has definitely along with Ashland have become the 2 premiere Kentucky teams in their area.
and are becoming a regular fixture in the Kentucky playoffs.

While Ironton has been struggling the last 2 years and have had a 2 year hiatus from the Playoffs.
Both teams have already ''Secured playoff spots'.And the Fighting Tigers are set to play a very solid Raceland,Ky team that is seemingly scoring at will. The Fighting Tigers are huge and will likely put a ground assault together. But we need to work on some passing this week, Covering the pass better, And sustaining our blocks till the whistle.

THIS SHOULD BE ANOTHER GREAT FRIDAY NIGHT OF FOOTBALL.

With a home playoff game on the line hopefully they come out loose and ready to play. If they come out tight and jittery they might lose this game.

Anyway I see the Tigers winning this game. Their O-line will be to much for Racelands D-line.

Went to the game last night and it was a good one to watch.

Ironton needs to work on a few things. TB I agree they do not know how to line up to trips etc. Their special teams are going to kill them against a good team in the playoffs. Jackson started almost every kick-off return from the 40 yard. Good teams will beat you when they only need 1 first down and they are in 4 down territory. I know one person offered their help but I guess they just want to figure it out on their own. Good luck Friday against Raceland!

Just to throw my two cents in Johnson Central is by far the best team in the area as far as kentucky is concerned. They're 9-0 and have blitzed everyone on the schedule including Ashland.

JC is very good, but after that everyone close on that side of the river is mediocre. Just inflated records because the bad teams are beating the real bad teams. And to say Raceland is better than wheelersburg? Do you really believe that?
