South Point QB ???
Does anyone know how he's doing after the injury he sustained in the Preview game last night. Pray that it's not as bad as it looked.

Re: South Point QB ???
I seen him being attended to on the bench well after their game, they brought a gator over and loaded him on it and hauled him off. Did he come up in the stands after that? I was sitting in front of the Press Box and never seen him after they hauled him off.luvbigcats wrote:I did see him come up in the stands with ice on his knee after the game.

Re: South Point QB ???
I work with a guy from South Point. He says the quarterback tore a ligament. Not confirmed of course. That really sucks. He was an excellent player and to do it in a scrimmage in your senior year makes it even worse. Best of luck to the young man.
Re: South Point QB ???
Was told this evening that he tore both his ACL and Meniscus. My prayers go out to the young man. Seems like a good kid.

Another casualty of artificial turf. His foot looked to almost stick when he injured it. It didn't give at all and just looked abnormal the way he fell.
I know they say artificial turf is safe. I don't buy it. Just too many examples.

I have read several articles comparing grass vs. turf safety and I don't think any of them have conclusively shown that the newer generations of turf are any less safe than grass. Now the older generations of turf were a different story. One thing interesting that several of the articles all mention is that there is a much higher risk of getting infection from cuts/abrasions on turf because of the much higher levels of bacteria. I am sure we have all seen someone blowing chunks on the turf, spitting, etc. Everyone who has turf has received a cleaning solution from the turf manufacturer, but you can't tell me that every instance of someone throwing up, spitting blood from a busted lip, etc. have had this cleaning solution sprayed onto it. Possibly in actual games, but in practices and open fields...not likely.Westfan wrote:Another casualty of artificial turf. His foot looked to almost stick when he injured it. I don't understand why he was still in the game. I know they were trying to "win" a 2 qtr preview game. I hate previews and scrimmages just for this reason. I know we have to play to see where we are but I like the quick hitters. A couple possessions and start subbing. Best wishes to a great young man and tremendous athlete.

I'm may be pessimistic, but I don't think you will ever get the facts on something like this because they are trying to sell it. It's no different than a new medicine, you hear the good, but you never get all the side effects for 10 or 20 years.4th n Goal wrote: I have read several articles comparing grass vs. turf safety and I don't think any of them have conclusively shown that the newer generations of turf are any less safe than grass. The new turf may be better than the old "astro turf", but it's still not grass. Grass/dirt gives; this stuff doesn't. And when we're talking about something as fragile as a knee ligament, it's the weak link.
