(scrimmage) Jackson @ NY Friday 8/23

Post by Orange and Brown »

This will be the final tuneup for boths teams.

I am excited to see how much improvement NY will show and to see those last few position battles get hammered out.
Not sure of the starting time. I believe it starts at 7 but I also heard 5???

O&B i am being told 7 but these scrimmage dates and times seem to be pretty fluid and change. The ironmen look to see what we have as NY will be a good gauge. We have only scrimmaged Washington CH and not sure about what they have this year. I think NY and their program should give us a much better idea for what to expect.

Is Athens and Trimble still scrimmaging Friday as well? If so what time and where wouldn't mind catching a little of that matchup as well since gonna be up that way at NY.

How many returning starters does Jackson return?

Gonna guess (and purely a guess) that it is less than 8. Predominantly a junior and sophomore team with some seniors and some freshman. I believe there is only 3-5 seniors, with one of those being our kicker.

I'm thinking that doubleplay643 is correct. Jackson has about 8 players returning that were starters in some capacity, and several others that saw significant playing time at some point during the season, but they're certainly a young team.

I'm not quite sure what the 1st Team offense and defense looks like at this point because I wasn't at last week's scrimmage, but I think there may be only 1 or 2 seniors who will see significant playing time. Essentially, the team you see this year is the team you'll see at Jackson next year. This year's team is loaded with sophomores and juniors, but those are both very talented classes. The freshman group has also been successful at the lower levels and there are a few players from that class that may play some at the varsity level.

It seems like N-Y will also be relying on some young guys at key positions, so I think this will be a good scrimmage for both teams. Both the Ironmen and Buckeyes will want to build some momentum for huge rivalry games in Week 1.

Scrimmage time is 7 PM. Although there is no admission, the team is requesting donations of new or gently used towels at the gate. Concession stand will be open and there will be a 50/50 raffle.

Yes they scrimmage Friday at Athens. I believe it is at 7 or 7:30.

To bad this is not the final game of the year, It would be a tremendous TVC championship game!

Are you on crack?
Athens would win that game by at least 3 td's

The 7th and 8th grades each have a 30 minute continuous clock scrimmage and the Jamberree game starts at 7.

Does any Ironman fan know if Reagan Williams who hyper-extended his elbow last week in a scrimmage or Gabe Griffiths recovering from his shoulder procedure will play tonight or will they rest up until Game 1 against Wellston? Reagan (TE and LB) has received offers from Ohio, Kent State, and Gabe (RB, DB) is tough and speedy junior that provides a lot of excitement on both sides of ball.

Assume they will not play but was curious if anyone had heard for certain.
