Miami Trace 43 - 22 Logan Elm
Re: Week 3: Logan Elm (1-1) @ Miami Trace (1-1)
I was wondering the same thing. I then thought back to the coaches of both schools just a few years ago. I know that Jeff retired a few years ago at Miami Trace. I don't know who coached there before, or who is coaching there now. I know that when Conroy was the coach, everyone knew about MT. I think that Scott is helping his son coach at Bloom Carroll. Likewise LE had some pretty good years when he was the head coach. I'm in no way trying to criticize either head coac h at either school, matter of fact I have no idea who the head coach is at either school.

I think the football enthusiasm and energy has started to die in Pickaway County these last few years. Westfall has low numbers, Circleville may go 0-10 again this year and Logan Elm has had a lean last couple of years. Both CV and LE will likely finish in the bottom three of the Buckeye.

Both Logan Elm and Circleville have real solid numbers in the seventh-grade class of around 25 each for football. Eighth-grade class at LE is also a decent size.
Some of your best athletes at both schools are focusing on just one or two sports - using the second sport to train for the main sport - and there isn't the depth of boys talent at these schools to be able to sustain that. That's why you see a couple of good/strong programs at each school and most of the rest struggling.
The girls sports are becoming more of the thing to follow, especially at Circleville. Circleville has a lot of girls talent right now coming through and Logan Elm has the potential to be good at softball. Same holds true at Westfall.
Westfall's numbers are concerning with 35 varsity and 16 junior high right now. Lots of instability in the program and having a harder time getting kids to play has led to this. Hopefully Coach Brad Smith, who was there when Westfall was good and understands what it takes, can get it back.
