What Would You Pay Scalper? State Game - Covid
What would you be willing to pay a scalper if your team you follow makes it to the state championship game? I know two guys who paid $50 for tickets to see Ironton play Cincinnati Sycamore last week. That was just a regular season unscheduled conference game
If attendance is not wide open for the playoff games one could only begin to ponder what some would be willing to pay. If Ironton made it to the game I would lay $100 down for a ticket so fast it would make your head swim. I would be out the cost of g asoline to get there, eating out, and a hotel room for the night. And then that price. I don't know but I probably would go a great deal higher
How much would you pay? Surely scalping will be widespread for the games

Re: What Would You Pay Scalper? State Chamipionship Game
Plenty of seats available up there nowadays, even with this crazy year and % of people that they may allow in, especially since all games have been in Canton recently. If they still alternated between Canton & Massillon it might be a problem. Attendance is nowhere near what it was years ago when there were less divisions and no TV coverage. I attended all the football & basketball State tourneys for 25 straight years up thru 2012 and haven't been to either one since then. Never had to buy a good scalped ticket for football at OSU, Canton or Massillon at all. Basketball at St. John's was a different story at times but after the Schott opened up in 98' other than the LeBron years, It was easy to get good seats for face value.

The problem is they don't play in columbus. It's just stupid to play the games in NEO.FANOSPORTS wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:04 pm Plenty of seats available up there nowadays, even with this crazy year and % of people that they may allow in, especially since all games have been in Canton recently. Re: What Would You Pay Scalper? State Chamipionship Game
Insider trading (just like the Wall street gurus). The NFL, HOF and Stark County Convention & Visitors bureau have too much tied up in it today. Fawcett stadium was falling into disrepair by the early 90's (chipped paint, terrible lighting, cracked concrete, grass etc) and over the years was fixed up little by little until a complete renovation was done 4 or 5 years ago with a $10 million gift from Tom Benson (Saints owner) to the HOF for that expressed purpose. I think that has essentially put the nail in the coffin for the future of the high school championships. That has been Canton McKinley's home for 100 years and also hosts other high schools and college games now. Columbus is too wrapped up in Pro Hockey and Soccer (ugh) to care about hosting high school football championships and OSU is too large of a venue.Raider6309 wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:31 pmThe problem is they don't play in columbus. Of course I'm addressing the problem of only 15% of a full stadium tickets being issued over the pandemic

Re: What Would You Pay Scalper? State Game - Covid
I thought OSU was 100x better than Canton. I have a Canton type stadium a couple miles from my house
Re: What Would You Pay Scalper? State Game - Covid
I don't know how feasible it would be but if they would move the state championship games to OSU they probably could sell tickets to anyone who wanted them and still maintain only a 15% capacity
Aside from the long drive for me, and the parking situation, the stadium was very nice last year at Canton. I certainly had no complaints about it.

$1000. (That is, if we had a team worthy enough to be there.)

They had a respectable showing in 98' in the finals against St. John's . (Those darn MAC teams have spoiled many dreams of others). Met up with some of my DeSales buddies that year also as the Stallions beat Walsh Jesuit for another title.formerfcfan wrote: Tue Oct 06, 2020 6:31 pm $1000. I hate the finals in Columbus, not a fan of canton either. The only place I want to watch title games live is at Massillon. Just something about it for me. Never had to pay high dollar for tickets for football no matter the venue. Paid 25 bucs on two occasions for b-ball games. Went up 8-7 in the first quarter on a brilliant swinging gate for 2pts (GIF attached, just click.) Had four first downs in the whole game but only lost by 10 to what is probably one of the best small school state champion squads ever. Chad Schulte (think that's his name) from DSJ still has the single-game rushing record for all state championships from that one. All that week everyone was saying DSJ was going to win by 50+ and reasonably so. That year we beat Scott McMullen and Granville in the regular season; then the path was Newark Catholic, Toronto and Cuyahoga Hts.FANOSPORTS wrote: Tue Oct 06, 2020 7:24 pmThey had a respectable showing in 98' in the finals against St. John's . If burg was to make it to the finals this season I’d drop no less that 50

Played peewee football with chad he worked real hard and had a great career. His oldest brother Scott is widely regarded as the best rb in Mac history. 98 was there first title. They were better in 99 and prolly best team was 2010 I believe when they were ranked in the nation as a d7formerfcfan wrote: Tue Oct 06, 2020 8:16 pmWent up 8-7 in the first quarter on a brilliant swinging gate for 2pts (GIF attached, just click.) Yep, he started out as an Asst. under Tony Pusateri then Bob Jacoby at DeSales before moving on to Fisher , St. Charles then to Coffman. (A lot of wins, playoff appearances and titles and you can add Brian White @ H. Davidson and Rocky Pentello @ Westerville South to that DeSales lineage of great coaches over the years).formerfcfan wrote: Tue Oct 06, 2020 8:16 pmWent up 8-7 in the first quarter on a brilliant swinging gate for 2pts (GIF attached, just click.) I don’t believe games will be in Canton or OSU, more likely regional HS facilities.FANOSPORTS wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:04 pm Plenty of seats available up there nowadays, even with this crazy year and % of people that they may allow in, especially since all games have been in Canton recently.
