Browns sign Dellhomme

Post by The_Legend_of_Northwest »

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4992744

In the same week it traded for Seneca Wallace, Cleveland reached agreement on a two-year deal with quarterback Jake Delhomme.

Now, a Browns quarterback depth chart that once featured Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson is expected to feature Delhomme and Wallace.

Delhomme was schedued to visit the Saints this weekend, a trip that no longer will be necessary.

The Browns have shopped Quinn and now that Delhomme will land in Cleveland, those trade talks could intensify.

Even though I do beleive that Delhomme is an upgrade over Quinn and Anderson (even though he is gone now) I jus question Delhommes abillity to stay healthy, he went through Tommy john surger a couple seasons ago, and if I'm thinking right, no NFL quarterback has went threw that surgery. I honestly feel that Senneca Wallace is a pretty solid No. 2, and I am pretty confident that Delhomme is the starter by no later that week 4.(possibly one or two)
I also feel that the Browns have found a very temporary solution to there QB production, I truly believe that they need to very seriously pursue CJ Spiller, everyone knows that Lewis is done and Jerome Harrison isn't the answer, even tnogh he had that huge game in week somewhere between 13-16. Spiller is CRAZY dynamic and explosive, if he is available when Browns are on the Board and they pass, then forget about the Browns.

There have been a few QB's that have had Tommy John but none sustained good careers after the procedure.

I would not be a bit upset if the Browns take Spiller, I would rather Eric Berry fall into the Browns lap (unlikely)

Not that I don't believe you, but can you list the QB's that you know that went threw Tommy John surgery and went on to play? Be cause i know that tommy john is pretty serious.
But anywho, I would not be surprised to see Berry fall to the Browns, but I think you can't pass on the offfensive and special team production that Spiller is guarnteed to bring, he is gonna be a special player.

P.S- Joshua Cribbs is WAAAAY underutilized! he is too dynamic to jus use on special teams, GET HIM ON THE FIELD SOMEWHERE, HE SHOWED WHAT HE COULD DO IN THE WILDCAT LAST YEAR LATE IN THE SEASON!!

Now I'm finding that Dellhomme is the only one who has had 'successful' Tommy John Surgery. I could of swore that I heard that other QB's have had it but didn't do to well afterwards.

I think Holmgren is hoping for another veteran qb to have a couple breakout years...such as Kerry Collins, Kurt Warner and Brett Favre. I look for Quinn to either remain as the backup and learn from Dellhomme for a couple seasons before taking over, or th Browns will trade him away and find a future qb in this years draft. Hopfully ts Lefevour. I think that kid is way under-rated based on the Conference he played in.

Give Jake a chance. As a Panthers fan i know he can be frustrating at times but he will bring a leadership and fire to that huddle that you haven't had since they stole your team from you. You have some weapons and plenty of draft picks and could very well be in the thick of things if you can shore up that defense, consistent running game, and let Jake manage the game instead of asking him to throw for 300 yds a game.

OK, how much worse could it get then what we had the last couple of years? I'm lost as to what Holmgren is doing but he has a track record of good QBs over the years. My feeling is this is not the last move to be made at QB. Oh, and Holmgren will be the coach before it is all over!

Browns are at the point where they just need to give almost anyone a chance to see who is the perfect fit for their program....

I follow the Carolina Panthers and I want to say the Jake still has something left in the tank his only problem is mental, I really hope that the change of teams helps him, he is still a good quarterback and could be what the Browns need to get over the hump, now if they would get receivers to throw to that would be make it better.

The Browns will draft a qb and he will be the starter before the season is over.
