Yawn...

Surely, Holmgren could have done better. The Rams on offense this year were 26th in points, 26th in total yards, 21st in passing yards and 25th in rushing yards.

Before 2015, the Browns will hire their 6th HC since the expansion and hopefully a new GM.

Shurmur will sit on Holmgren's lap and move his lips while Holmgren talks! Let's face it, this is a hire that let's Big Mike coach without being the coach in name.

The rumblings are that Rob Ryan is out as DC and the Browns may be looking at Dave Wanstedt as his replacement. :aaaaa30 :aaaaa33

The head coaching job in the NFL is changing. The head coach needs to have very good assistants who know their job. As well as the management side being a team. The Ravens hired Harbaugh as their coach and they have done very well putting parts around him to succede. Not everyone can be like the Pats with the Hoodie controlling things but he has good people around him. Teams that work together as a team all the way thur the organization from players to management without an owner who wants to be involved to much can succede. The Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs have made big strides in the last few years doing this.

The Browns have pieces together just now need a good mix of assistants with everyone working together with the same goal.

That's where he came from before joining the Browns. That outfit might just suit Ryan's personality. And besides, if he does any good at all, he might actually outlast Al Davis, who is 169 years old.

Seems on the topic, the blog. browns fans are half and half. Some hate the choice, while others like it. But if he has one bad season, OFF WITH HIS HEAD. I think 'man genious' had them in the right direction, but needed more time.

Lets hope that this isn't true. Ryan is a good coach and the 'stach isn't.

Somehow I have the feeling the Browns are in a stability phase now. Lerner kept going to the flavor of the day his last several hires and he acknowledges he needs a football man in charge. In that regard, we are light years ahead of our bretheren in Cincinnati. Holmgren will be in place for awhile and will cast the Browns in his image. My hope is we have "started over" for the last time for awhile and that can only mean good things. Also heard they are looking to bring in Dick Jauron as defensive coordinator. They are committed to going to a 4-3 (have differing thoughts on that). He may be the veteran coach who probably is a better asst. than head coach and won't be going back that route again. Stability!

With going to a 4-3, I'd go for a pash rusher to come off the end or a linebacker that can rove around and hit like Matthews.
