Detroit Tigers big trade

Post by Frank Reagan »

Tigers get Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis for 6 prospects with Camryn Maybin, OF and Andrew Miller, SP as the two top prospects.

The age-old question.....proven commodities versus vast potential?

I like the trade for both teams, actually.

It is that question indeed. I guess the secondary questions are somewhere around: When do you want to win? and Yes, it is vast potential, but how long do you have to wait until it blooms? With the potent line-up that the Tigers have, adding Cabrera instead of Inge makes it solid 1-9. Heck, you're looking at Jacque Jones probably batting 9th and someone like Placido Polanco, who hit .340 down around 6th or 7th and probably Carlos Guillen, who hit .296 with 21 hr's 6th or 7th. Heck, Pudge Rodriguez will be down at probably 8th. My biggest concern is 6 of 9 hitters are right handed(Renteria, Cabrera, Ordonez, Polanco, Rodriguez and Sheffield). If you get in the playoffs with a great righty staff, it might hurt them. I think their next area of concern is the bullpen. With Zumaya out due to injuries sustained fleeing the California wildfires, there is concern for a set-up to Todd Jones. Inge could be decent trade bait to get that filled.

great move for the tigers. cabrera is very talented and only 24. willis has shown signs of greatness but has struggled at times as well but he is only 25. i think he will find his groove again with the tigers. im not a tigers fan but this trade makes them a real threat in the al. adding to the starting rotation and adding a big bat in a lineup that is already pretty good

The tigers will win more games than Cincinnati. That is for sure.
