Reds Amir Garrett Suspended For 7 Games
May 5 (UPI) -- Cincinnati Reds pitcher Amir Garrett received a seven-game suspension and was fined for "inciting a benches-clearing incident" in a game against the Chicago Cubs, MLB said.
MLB senior vice president for on-field operations Michael Hill announced the suspension Tuesday in response to Garrett's actions Saturday in Cincinnati.
Garrett entered in the top of the eighth inning of the Reds' 3-2 loss to the Cubs on Saturday at Great American Ball Park. He struck out Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo in his first exchange.
Garrett celebrated the strikeout with screams and gestures toward the Cubs dugout.
The Cubs and Reds reacted by running out of their respecting dugouts. Players met near the third base line for a brief skirmish. They then returned to their respective dugouts. Garrett forced a fly out in the next at-bat. No players were ejected for the on-field delay.

Reds' Joey Votto: Fractures thumb, likely out for May
Manager David Bell said after Wednesday's 1-0 win over the White Sox that Votto fractured his left thumb during the game, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. He's expected to be sidelined for around a month with the injury.
Bell noted that Votto won't need surgery on his thumb, but the injury is still a major blow for the Reds.

From WCPO:
CINCINNATI — Starting June 2, Great American Ball Park will return to full capacity and masks will be recommended but not required inside the park, the Cincinnati Reds announced Friday.
The news follows Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s announcement ending coronavirus health orders on June 2.

The Reds will also offer $10 tickets for fans who have received at least their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Fans can redeem this offer at GABP ticket windows only by showing their COVID-19 vaccination card with at least one shot completed.
The offer limits guests to six tickets per vaccine card shown, subject to availability. Learn more here.
The park is currently limited to 40% capacity, with masks required inside the park.

With another mediocre product on the field, what difference does it make?
