I hope the Pirates, but it would appear that the Reds are in a better position to do it in the next couple of years.
Re: Pirate Armada
Lost 7 in a row and swept by the Reds.
I feel like Charlie Brown watching Lucy dropping another fly ball out in rightfield.
Bucs are 35-29 at home. 18-50 on the road.
Cards come to town for a weekend series. Looks like the losing streak will grow to 10 games by Sunday. Bucs don't play on Thursday so I will watch the Oregon/Bosie State game.

Re: Pirate Armada
I'll pass on the last week of preseason football. They won't play the starters very much since the regular season is just around the corner. It's college football tonight.
I stand corrected, its college fight night in America...DOWN GOES FRAZIER!!!!
To bad the only punch the Ducks had was a blind sucker punch.

Back to baseball...
Hopefully, the Bucs can work some of the ol' PNC magic and break a 7 game slide tonight against the Cards.
Last 4 weeks of the season. It would be nice to finish these few games at .500.
LETS GO BUCS!!!

In celebration of the start of the football season, the Pirates give up a late touchdown to drop the opening game of a 3 game series to the Cardinals by a score of 14-7.
This is not a typo.

Re: Pirate Armada
Another miserable loss tonight.2-1 in 10.Wonder why no one has ever suspected Pujols for performance drugs? The way things are going I would encourage the Pirates to start using them...LOL

Nice walk off win Sunday over the Cards, but it was the same old same old today in a loss to the Cubs..
Re: Pirate Armada
Sadly, Pirates set the major sports record that they shared with the Phillies and now have 17 straight losing seasons.
Losing seasons 1993-2009.

Re: Pirate Armada
More of the same...another embarrasing loss tonight.7 runs given up in the first inning on eight straight hits.Tied a major league record.Ironically the Pirates did that very same thing to the Braves in 1975.

Has Mr.B fallen by the wayside by a plague at sea? Or has there been a mutiny? Another lack luster pair of games in Houston Fri. and Sat. ending in losses.Hopefully a win is on deck tomorrow...

Re: Pirate Armada
Pirates win today 2-1..End road losing skid...Still no Mr. B? I think he may have jumped ship...

Re: Pirate Armada
I'm here!
Been manning the bilge pumps on a sinking ship!
We finally ended a 13 game losing streak on the road.
Only 2-9 for the month of September. I was hoping that we wouldn't have a 100 loss season but being at 86 losses now, it looks like it is going to happen.
More road games at the Dodgers this week.
Anybody seen the Jolly Roger???

Dodgers 6 Pirates 2
Loss #87 on the year. 13 to go to hit 100 for the season.
If I don't laugh I'll cry.

Re: Pirate Armada
Dodgers 5 Pirates 4 in 13 innings.
Loss #88 for the Buccos. 54 of them have been on the road.
I hope our position players will be playing in some of the winter leagues. The pitching staff needs to take some time off as not to wear out their arms.

Dodgers 3 Pirates 1
Loss #89 on the year. Pirates head home for the last homestand of the year, 11 games, then back on the road for 7 to end the year.
The worst we can do is loss 107 games.
Hopefully, we will find the lost Jolly Roger back at PNC Park and fly it proudly and often during the homestand.
I would suggest that we call up some players from the minors and take a look at them, but I guess we did take shortly after the All-Star break when we were just 4 games below 500.
LETS GO BUCS!!!
I guess I'll head down to the Igloo and start sharpening up the skates.
LETS GO PENS!!!

Re: Pirate Armada
What do you think of the revolations that McClouth didn't want to move to Left field was the reason for the trade not monitary reasons? I thought he was a team player...Oh well...I tell you Vin Scully is BRUTAL! He endlessly ripped the Pirates today..He claims that the MLB is keeping the Pirates a float because "you have to have teams to play"On the surface we are fodder this year, but it's easy for someone that works for a team that can just throw money at players to rip one for it's lack of success.I live outside the Pirates tv market so I have to put up with the other teams broadcast when the Pirates aren't available. He also said he could understand why the games weren't being sent back to the Burg.Hey,Vin, they weren't scheduled to be on way back in April, it just wasn't something they just decided to do.Ok...The rant is over...Back to work Friday night with a four pack wrap around series with the Padres.Do you miss Lanny too? Nevritt is ok but he's no Lanny...
