It is a shame the ownership refused arbitration or could not get a trade for Hamilton. However releasing him frees up a few million for the bottom line or to be wasted on "prospects" that always seem to fail in Cincinnati.

The Reds made their first move of the winter meetings today. They received pitcher Tanner Roark from the Nationals in exchange for pitcher Tanner Rainey.

That's actually a very good trade for the Reds. It wasn't flashy or anything like that, but it's a very good solid trade. Cincy in desperate need of good starting pitching, and that got a guy who was been consistent for several years.
