You wouldn't think so with both their egos, but I hear Kobe is hellbent on getting another championship to match Jordan, so it wouldn't surprise me if he did,if him and Shaq managed to make it 3 years together he could do it, plus Kobe is at the age now he would probably welcome the help.

Both Battier and LeBum are small forwards, and the four-time MVP let Battier guard Timmy down low so that LeBum could focus on the offensive end of the floor.TribeManiac10 wrote:Shane Battier for finals mvp. 4.7ppg in this playoff run, 29% three point shooting, AND no headband? He really carried the 4 time mvp to the title.bdubya wrote:Miami's Big 3 never won a title until Shane Battier came to town. Maybe they should be called the Big 4.
Battier is the new leader in Duke history with 2 NBA championship rings, which goes with a national title and college player of the year award in 2001. Plus, he's never lost in the NBA Finals - unlike most of his current teammates.
He crushed OKC last year with the three ball, just like he did against the Spurs in the clincher.
A true winner and role model ... and he doesn't even wear a headband.
Duke nation is happy for one Heat player tonight! The rest are just bums - 'Los Bums' at that.
Being the great basketball mind that you are, I am amazed that you somehow missed that fact.
Never said that Shane should have been the MVP. Just said that Miami is perfect in the playoffs with "Whose your daddy, Battier" aboard.
You must just be blessed to be here too.

Blessed beyond belief. Tony Parker was the larger threat in this series. I'm fine with Lebron spending more time guarding he and Danny Green on the wing. Most of the series Chris Bosh and Chris Anderson had the brunt of the responsibility of guarding Duncan, and both I felt were effective in game 7.bdubya wrote:Both Battier and LeBum are small forwards, and the four-time MVP let Battier guard Timmy down low so that LeBum could focus on the offensive end of the floor.TribeManiac10 wrote:Shane Battier for finals mvp. 4.7ppg in this playoff run, 29% three point shooting, AND no headband? If Parker was a bigger threat in this series than Duncan, how come he wasn't on the floor in crunch time of Game 7?TribeManiac10 wrote:Tony Parker was the larger threat in this series.
LeBum had a remarkable series and was truly unstoppable on the offensive end, but his teammates - Battier in particular - helped him reach that level of play by freeing him up on the other end of the floor.
Do NOT pretend that it is any different than that.
Go get a t-shirt with .500 on it. If Miami 3-peats, you can take some tape and fill in the 5 to look like a 6.
Personally, I want a t-shirt with Allen and Battier on the front that says "Witness"

His injury? Lebron limiting his effectiveness the final half of the series? Who knows. Greg Poppovich made a few questionable coaching decisions this series. Tim Duncan was the Spurs' best player in the last 2 games of the finals but Tony Parker was the driving force of this team ALL postseason. Hell, Danny Green would have been finals MVP if they won in 4 games. As far as Shane Battier goes there are probably 30-40 guys in the league that could have played his offensive role. Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, and Gary Neal all did better jobs as spot up shooters and I see no one giving Tim flack for choking away a title despite an abundance of help. All the venom directed at the Heat will only further motivate them. Remember not 1, not 2.....bdubya wrote:If Parker was a bigger threat in this series than Duncan, how come he wasn't on the floor in crunch time of Game 7?TribeManiac10 wrote:Tony Parker was the larger threat in this series.

He didn't miss shots at the end and depend on a Ray Allen to win it for them.
1997 Playoffs Jordan 32.4 PPG Kerr 4.9 PPG 1993 Playoffs Jordan 35.1 PPG Paxson 4.9 PPg. I didn't selectively forget just wasn't much to remember.

Re: NBA Finals Heat vs Spurs
The only significant contribution Ray Allen made during the Spurs series was his game 6 three pointer. In that regard he is very similar to Kerr/Paxson. 10pts, 2rebs, and 1 assist isn't carrying anyone to a title and neither were they.Charge wrote:TribeManiac10 wrote:Did you selectively tune out Steve Kerr(97 finals) and John Paxson(93 finals) during the the Bulls runs? Battier isn't there for an offensive role. He is there for defense, because Miami already has enough offense. This will be the third time telling you this. I could play his offensive role, and I haven't picked up a basketball in years.TribeManiac10 wrote:As far as Shane Battier goes there are probably 30-40 guys in the league that could have played his offensive role. I keep seeing that you write about selective memory and quoting offensive numbers as though that is all basketball is, but you ignore all the things that allowed LeBum to shine his brightest. At any level, it is more than just about offensive numbers.
Timmy gets no flack because he doesn't act like an arse. He's never tried to promote his "brand" nor has he gone out of his way to establish a legacy by embarrassing a franchise that made him a No. 1 pick. He simply lets his game do the talking. And he sure as heck doesn't follow up a championship by telling the people who promote his world to get the "F-ck out of his face."
You remember: Not 1, not 2, not 3, but AT LEAST 4 more to go before even dreaming of holding MJ's jock. And since Michael was nice enough to share two NBA titles with Houston by retiring, maybe LeBum should realistically aim for a minimum of eight.

Tribe,
Are you a big fan of Terrell Owens and A-Rod?
Can't deny the talent, right?

Can't defend his post game antics, could be an awful person in real life. Doesn't mean however he gets less credit for winning the title. Michael Jordan is never winning an award for character but there are enough people lined up, especially in the media, to hold his jock.bdubya wrote:Battier isn't there for an offensive role. Now I understand why you whine every time you disagree with something.
I also understand now why you are still paying to get into sporting events instead of being paid for your insight.
