WOW!!!!!!!!!gahs4ever wrote:You have got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not an understatement)
When a guy's offspeed pitch is 87 mph and 15 mph slower than his heater, what chance to hitters have; even at the major league level? If pitching is location and changing speeds and you add 100 mph plus, I could hear the Reds position players in the dugout actually thanking God that they dont have to face him!
Outstanding debut young man!
When you swing that hard and can't get the ball out of the grass!!WOW!!!!
Chapman is gonna be NASTY!
It looked like he was throwing BP out there! WOW!

Re: 2010 REDS
With the three games that the Reds have played more than the Cards,
that 7 game lead is actually a 9 game lead.
Not only do the Cards have to make up a 7 game deficit, but they also have to win
at least 2 of those other 3 games in order to keep that lead.
If the Reds could happen to sweep the Cards this weekend (huge task, don't expect it)
then they would pull the season series to 10-8, and take a commanding 10-12 game lead.
Which with the game played differential, could put the Cards 14 games back.

Go REDS! Lets finish off them Brewers!
I feel like a kid again! It's 1990 and I'm 12 Years old, This season has been so much fun. The only thing missing is Barry Larkin.

Reds are heavy favs tonight with the Cards being dogs
Now we need to really pay attention to the Braves and Padres. Home field advantage throughout the playoffs would be great. If we win the NL we automatically get home field in the world series.

I think the Reds may be in for it this weekend. The Cards got swept by Houston and haven't really been hitting; I look for their bats to heat up. Hopefully Cincy will finish off Milwaukee tonight and get at least one win in St. Louis.

Re: 2010 REDS
Are the Cards really better than they are playing? For all there talent they are the most inconsistant team in the N.L.gahs4ever wrote:MAGIC NUMBER IS 23!!!!
Reds........78-55 -
Cards.......69-62 8
Assuming the Reds win the Central, this series in St Louis is critical because I dont want the Cards to get the Wild Card!
Reds are on a roll and Cards are playing like the Cubs. Bad thing is no one can continue forever playing like the Reds are and the Cards are better than they've been playing, so I hope things dont reverse this weekend in St Louis.
Reds are guaranteed to have no worse than a five game lead with 26 to play, and if they sweep the Cards the magic number will be down to 17 and they will have an 11 game lead.
LIFE IS GOOD!
They got some awesome pitching and they have "the Machine" but they just don't have anything else clicking for them. There Defense is letting them down and they aren't hitting well. I think the Cards are done. We will take 2 outta 3 and they will pack it in. They have been the Class of the N.L. Central for so long they are starting to believe all they have to do is show up and they will win the Central. This year has woken them up. LaRussa is more than likely done with the Cards after this year anyways...on a side note, We still have to go to Colorado and the Rockies won't lay down for us so we better be ready for that series.

Re: 2010 REDS
I'm not sure Dusty will be handing out reast days down the stretch. The Reds have a chance to end the season with the best record in the N.L. and home filed advantage means a lot in the playoffs. Phillips will be in the line up come this weekend, Cabrera has become an afterthought.( I do like him a lot though). Votto is in the MVP an a shot at the triple crown so I don't see him getting many if any days off this month. I do think that we will need a healthy and rested Rolen for the post season.. Votto may be the league MVP but Scott Rolen is the team MVP. He has brought so much leadership to the clubhouse. Without Rolen I'm not sure the Reds are 8 games up. What do you think GAHS ole buddy?gahs4ever wrote:We still have another West Coast swing, which includes Colorado. These arent the same Cards of the last decade. The list is long of people who arent there anymore beginning with Rolen, Edmonds and Isringhausen for starters. Ludwick is also gone and their 3B has been on the DL for quite awhile. But they have enough starting pitching that they should be more than seven over .500 at this point, and I believe they still have at least one more run in them.
I still believe the number is 92 and have been saying that all season long. Go back and check it out. If 92 wins wins the Central, the Reds only need go 14-15 and the Cards must finish 23-8. Therefore if the Reds CAN take two out of three, they will only have to go 12-14 and the Cards 22-6. That ought to put things into perspective.
I believe after this weekend, Dusty will utilize his enter 40 man roster; especially his bullpen to get the team rested but at the same time stay sharp. Same for his injured and aging position players like Rolen, Cabrera, Phillips, et al.
Hard to believe that three weeks ago the Cards swept the Reds and we were out of first place. As recently as 10 games ago St Louis was still breathing down out necks.
Re: 2010 REDS
Espn said today that the reds are 8 games up. Chapman threw a 104 mph fast ball yesterday. They still have to face the cards. I hope they do good against them. That would up the tempo for the reds . winning breeds winning. I think chapman is a good closer. Brought him up at the right time going down to the end of season. GO REDS
