It was a highly intertaining and innovative night. Team San Antonio won the Shooting Stars event. Deron Williams won the Skills Competition with a record time (25.5). Jason Kapono won the 3 Point Shootout with a tie for the record score(25). Finally, Dwight Howard won the Dunk Contest with all 50s and completely AMAZING and ORIGINAL dunks.
On a side note, thanks to Dwight for allowing me to win the pot from a bet LOL

Dwight Howard was pretty good, but the Superman dunk wasnt actually a dunk it was a layup. The rest of the guys we have seen MJ, Dominic, Vince Carter, and others do the same dunks without help.

no, the superman dunk wasnt a layup, it was a dunk. yes MJ and co. did it without having to throw it but they all got huge running starts and carried the ball with them. he lobbed the ball and jumped from both feet after a relatively short jogging start. not the mention how high howard got

most guys wouldnt be able to get high enough to throw it down from that distance like he did.
the best dunk of the night was the one where howard lobbed it, jumped, tipped it off the backboard and threw it down. THAT my friends, was amazing.

He shot the ball from a few feet away from the basket that is a layup not a dunk. As for the tipping it to himself that was sweet.

i was watching an ESPN classic show on the history of the dunk and they defined it as a type of shot in which a player throws the ball through the hoop from above the rim. it doesnt say anything about grabbing the rim. as long as it's thrown through from above the rim, it's a dunk. personally, i agree with that definition.

I totally agree, it's not called the "throw the ball in the basket contest from five feet away". I would like to see good players in the slam dunk contest.

I think what he means is we want to see Lebron, Kobe, and the other marquee names in the slam dunk competition not supporting players like Howard and those other guys in the competition.

i understand what hes saying but i think Dwight Howard should be a marquee name and i definitely dont think that he is a supporting player.

Howard is Orlando's best player and will soon be one one of the NBA's elite. a far cry from a supporting player.

Howard is good, but Kobe, Lebron, Vince Carter, T Mac would be better. Nobody cares about that Moon guy or Gerald Green.

i agree with you on that. i'd like to see lebron take on kobe in a dunk contest but i understand why they dont. not to mention their team's point of view. if i were the cavs (and their fans) i'd be pretty upset if my star player (and carrier of my team) got hurt in a dunk contest.

When has anybody ever got hurt during a dunk contest?

not sure, but as high and hard as they're jumping i'm sure it isnt too hard to seriously injure an ankle or knee.

I thought the dunk contest was pretty good. The All-Star game was a little lame though. Never have been a huge fan of the game anyway.

NBA All-Star weekend is so much more exciting than the Pro Bowl.

They should do it like baseball, and play for home court advantage during the Finals.
