The QB has the dot because he is the communicator of the team. He more than likely has a headset in his helmet to hear plays being called in by the coach. It also lets the refs know which one has it.

are they going to let defense have one?
they were talking about but then they realized hey if a db has they can tell a db how the play is developing

what happened to good "old fashion" football?
maybe we can put some helmet cams..inside their helmets so they can see behind them

I heard the new rule this year allows one def player to have a head set.

that was shot down for the reason of a safety or FS having it and being 10 to 20 yards off the line and having enough time to be told how the play is forming and where to the ball is and react to what he was just told.

I NEVER NOTICED THEM ON KICKERS LAST YEAR. JUST THOUGHT THEY WERE ON QB'S. ESP. FOR SEEING LATE HITS. ALL YEAR LONG I WONDERED, I NEVER HEARD ANY ANNOUNCER TELL EXACTLY WHO WORE THEM, OR WHY.
