I dont think you can keep Bonds, Clemens, or anyone else who has the number. All ya have to do is mark it for what it is that beeing a steroid era. I would like to know the other 103 people on that list. I think there are somewhere around 700 players in the MLB and in 2003 104 people tested positive on a voluntary test(I think). So if ya think about it like that the level of play was pretty even cause as we have learn its not 10 or less poeple that used roids. Steroids you gotta figure have been around or in baseball since the 60's. And you have alot of Hall of Famers that prob used roids back in the day. I wonder how many people in other sports used roids how come thats never talked about?

I don't understand how these guys can take steroids and more or less cheat the game while they are playing, and still be praised for their accomplishments. People say that the numbers should still allow them to be in the HOF.

What about Pete Rose! The only thing he did wrong was after his playing days and he paid the price. If MLB/sports reporters are going to say that based on numbers some of these players on roids should be allowed in and not give Rose a chance, then that seems hypocritical to me.

What do you think?

I can accept a guy that cheated once in his career like A-Rod or Giambi, but a guy like Bonds who did it for half his career no I cant accept that. Those guys were young and stupid you can forgive that, but Bonds or Clemens who already had the numbers and career for the HoF to go and ruin their legacy like they have I have a real problem with that.

i agree with you 1000% those writers who say that bonds, clemens, a-roid, palmero, sosa, and even mcgwire should be in the HoF thats a croc. Taking steroids, even once, hurts the INTEGRITY of the game far worse than betting on one.

You can make the arugment for Rose but Pete Rose should have know look at Shoeless Joe Jackson and the White Sox scandle and how all of those guys was banned from the game. IMO if you put Pete Rose in (which he should be in) then you have to go back and put Joe Jackson and some of those guys in.

Too bad that the numbers put up in this "steroid" era have overshadowed performances of players in the 70's and 80's. Guys like Andre Dawson, Bert Blyleven, Jack Morris, Al Oliver, Dave Concepcion and the list goes on were overlooked for Hall of Fame consideration because suddenly their numbers were pailing in comparison to the numbers put up by those using performance enhancing drugs. It's only my opinion, but I would never want to see a player in the Hall of Fame who's numbers were obtained by advantages other players didn't have.

i admire A Rod for coming out and telling the truth, instead of getting caught then lying about his use like some. Plus he failed a test when steroids were not banned in baseball, he hasn't failed one since the they put in the rule to ban substances from the game in 2004

How do ys know some of those guys wasnt on "the juice". Steroids was invented in 1948 and became popular umong athletics in the early 50s. I read this on the internet the other day. It also stated that an American powerlifting team used the drug in the early 50s and that the drug didnt become banned until a couple years later.

The fact is that there is proof that the players of this era used performance enhancers, and there is no proof that players of earlier era's used them. It's not hard to look at "before and after" photo's of McGwire, Bonds and A-Rod and see a huge physical difference. This wasn't the case in earlier era's. The proof is there that they cheated. In my opinion they shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame.

I say, who cares. Let them all take it and even the playing field. If they want to hurt their bodies so be it. Legalize all drugs and forget about it.

People are bigger now days casue people are more educatied on how to take care of there bodys better such as lifting, their diets and so on. Maybe thats why people back in the dy thought someone who weighed 250 was BIG. Now days due to beeing more educatied IMO 250 is avg. If everyone is/used steroids then does anyone have an edge on the next guy? IMO I think that over 85% of the people in the MLB used some form of HGH or steroids.

OMG....SOMEONE THINKS THE WAY I DO!!!!!
Ty Cobb was the man, i always have and always will think he is the best player of all time. and his work ethic was the best ever, period. give him the equipment and technolgy we have today and he would be running over todays players. if you have never read this book, i recomend it..i have read it 5-6 times "COBB" writen by Al Stump. it is a biography that was writen about the entire life of Tyrus Raymond Cobb.

Went to a Reds game a while back and was going through the Reds HOF and there was a lady in there selling books. My wife and I talked to her for a little while and I bought a copy and had it autographed. She was a grand or maybe a great-granddaughter or somethig of Ed Roush who played for the Reds in that World Series. The book is called Red Legs and Black Sox. Thought it was interesting, but I have yet to read it.
