UFC 137: Diaz vs Penn

Post by The_Legend_of_Northwest »

October 29th in Las Vegas on PPV

Main Card:
BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz
Cheik Kongo vs Matt Mitrione
Mirko Cro Cop vs Roy Nelson
Scott Jorgensen vs Jeff Curran
Hatsu Hioki vs George Roop

Spike TV:
Denis Siver vs Donald Cerrone
Tyson Griffin vs Bart Palaszewski

Facebook:
Dustin Jacoby vs Clifford Starks
Brandon Vera vs Eliot Marshall
Ramsey Nijem vs Danny Downes
Chris Camozzi vs Francis Carmont

Good Card. Don't like Cro Cop/Nelson would rather see what could be Cro Cop's last fight on the Japan card next year against a Pride legend like Nog or Mark Hunt

Originally Nick Diaz had the title shot but he skipped two press conferences and kept being Nick Diaz and the UFC stripped his shot

Predictions:

FB:
Camozzi Decision
Downes Decision
Vera 1st Round TKO
Jacoby Decision

Spike:
Griffin Decision
Cerrone Decision

Main:
Jorgensen Decision
Hioki 3rd Round Sub. Should be a great showcase for Hioki. No disrespect to Roop but Hioki is the only legit contender to Jose Aldo IMO
Nelson Decision. I think this will be 3 rounds of Roy trying to get the fight to the ground and Cro Cop defending.
Mitrione 2nd Round TKO. I've always felt that Kongo was vastly overrated on the feet and Meathead should be able to pick him apart as long as his wrestling has developed as far as I think it has
Diaz Decision. These two are basically the same exact fighter except Nick is longer and has the better gas tank which is what I think will win him what could very well be fight of the year

KO of the Night: Mitrione
Sub of the Night: Hioki
Fight of the Night: Diaz/Penn

GSP hurts his knee and pulls out of the fight. It was a bad sprain so he shouldn't be out for an extended period of time. Penn/Diaz has been promoted to the Main Event.

Predictions:

Starks Decision (0-1)
Carmont Decision (0-2)
Nijem Decision (0-3)
Vera Decision (1-3) Marshall broke Vera's arm at the end of the 3rd, but Vera withstood

Spike:
Bart 1st Round KO, Beautiful finish (2-4)
Cerrone 1st Round Sub, great performance. Now if Donald can get his head on straight and stop calling out lesser fighters (Cole Miller and wanting to drop weight to fight Nam Phan) he would realize he is close to a title shot. (3-4)

Main:
Hioki Decision. My internet connection has been going on and off so I have no clue if it was the right decision or not. (4-4)
Jorgensen Decision. (5-4)
Nelson 3rd Round TKO. I got to see vintage Cro Cop come out in early in the 2nd, but then I had to work on some issues with the phone line and missed the rest. (6-4)
Kongo Decision (6-5)
Diaz Decision. Showed why Diaz is the best boxer in all of MMA. (7-5)

BJ Penn said he was retiring during his post fight interview if that is the case, he was one of the greatest ever at his best.
