If this is indeed true, it is a bad hire.
Break the bank, hire Bill Parcells, turn total football control over to him.

When you're bleeding to death, get a sure thing. Laugh if you will but I want Marty back. He'd be the steady hand that could stop the bleeding and build a base for the future. Hey Brown's fans, how many of you would love to lose the AFC Championship game right about now!

Getting rid of Marty was a huge mistake. Holgrem as coach is a mistake too.
Mistakes by the lake keep piling up.

The Cleveland Browns want Holmgren to be a VP kinda like Parcells is in Miami and give him complete control of football operations, getting players, signing coaches and things like that, which means you need to look at the Holmgren tree to find who the next coach of the Browns would be, and the first name that comes to mind for me is Jon Gruden, who I think might just be what the Browns need, they need a coach who isn't afraid to scream a little, and with Gruden and Holmgren there you are certain to run the West Coast offense which might not be bad for Cleveland.

According to multiple reports, Lerner intends to contact former Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, who stepped down after last season to spend more time with his family.
Lerner said in an e-mail response to The Associated Press that he would not comment on "rumors/speculation."
Holmgren has said he wants to return to pro football. He held dual titles of coach and GM with Seattle for four seasons before being stripped of his management duties before the 2003 season. Last year, Holmgren said he was envious of Parcells for having a cushy executive position.
Mangini, who has come under fire halfway through his first season with Cleveland, said Lerner's search for a football czar would not be a distraction to him or the team.

I still hire Marty as coach/GM and allow him to groom his coaching replacement a few years from now. Bernie can be an assistant/player laison but not GM or coach. Also, time to retire Jim Brown from an active consultant role.

Well word from ownership is that the new coach will either be Bernie Kosar or Drew Carey!! Both guys are thinking about it so we will have to see who jumps at the chance to coach on of the best teams in football. It's also been reported that if Bernie takes the job Drew Carey will get the GM position.
