Former WCW Wrestlers who are still in WWE today

Post by NYBuckeye96 »

I thought it would be interesting to see what former WCW Superstars are still working for WWE today. Here is what I came up with:

1. Chris Jericho (WCW - 1996-1999)

2. Big Show/The Giant (WCW - 1995-1999)

3. Chavo Gurrero, Jr. (WCW - 1996-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

4. Finlay (WCW - 1995-2000)

5. William Regal/Steven Regal (WCW - 1992-1998)

6. Gregory Helms/Sugar Shane Helms/The Hurricane (WCW - 1999-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

7. Triple H/Terra Ryzing/Jean-Paul Levesque (WCW - 1994-1995)

8. Rey Mysterio (WCW - 1996-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

9. Goldust/Dustin Rhodes (WCW - 1991-1995 and 1999-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

10. Edge/Damon Striker (WCW - one match only sometime in mid-90's)

11. Jimmy Wang Yang/Yang (WCW - 1999-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

Non-Wrestlers:

12. Theodore Long (NWA/WCW - 1985-1999)

13. Referee Charles Robinson (WCW - 1997-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

14. Jim Ross - (NWA/WCW - 1986-1993)

Of the WCW roster that existed when WWE purchased WCW, only 5 wrestlers and 1 referee remain. Goldust and Rey Mysterio were not a part of the original buyout deals. Rey Mysterio signed a deal shortly after the acquisition and Goldust has been an on-again, off-again character in WWE.

Of the original WWE buyouts of WCW contracts, only Chavo Gurrero, Gregory Helms, Jimmy Wang Yang, and Referee Charles Robinson remain.

Other former WCW still employed by the WWE include

The Undertaker. He was billed with the name of Mean Mark Callous in WCW for less than 1 year just prior to signing with WWF in October 1990.

Even though they are not wrestling, you also have

Michael Hayes (Freebirds)- Senior Vice President, Creative Development for Smackdown
Arn Anderson - Producer (Raw)
Dean Malenko - Producer (ECW)
Billy Kidman - Trainer for WWE owned FCW
Mike Rotunda (IRS) - Road Agent
John Laurinatis (Road Warror Animal) - Executive Vice President, Talent Relations

Another referee that wrestled from 1992-2000 was Scott Armstrong. He turned to refereeing in 2001, but was not hired by the WWE until 2006.

Well we can remove one more name from this list..........

6. Gregory Helms/Sugar Shane Helms/The Hurricane (WCW - 1999-2001) - Part of WCW when WWE bought out WCW

Helms, along with Paul Burchill, was released by WWE today.

Who do you think will last in WWE longest of the remaining WCW buyout guys??? - Chavo, Jimmy Wang Yang, or Referee Charles Robinson? Or maybe Rey Mysterio?

It's hard for me to include Goldust on this list, since he was back and forth between WWF and WCW all those years.

Rumor has it that Booker T is returning to WWE.

I would like to see Rey hang around longer, but with his size and his injuries he has had, it going to catch up with before long. Other than hi, it will be Robinson. Chavo seems to be limited in what he does and I don't care a lot for the Asian Cowboy

I am guessing that if Booker goes back to the WWE, there will be other to follow. There are a few other TNA wrestlers that is no longer on the roster since Hogan and Bischoff went there, and will be looking for employment.

As for Goldust, he has to embarrassed to dress the way he does, but McMahon owns him.
