First week disappointments

After the first week of games some of the teams many are picking for the Super Bowl and playoffs not only came out playing bad but were humilated. New York Jets and 49er's were terrible. The Bengals for the first half and the Colts losing to the Texans. This is suppose to be Pro Football and the at best first game. Some of these games it was just terrible. The Jets offense was offensive. They played a good defense in the Ravens but they were without Ed Reed. Where as the Colts when they lose their big play db Bob Sanders they can not stop the Texans. The 49er's defense was terrible which was suppose to be the best part of the team. The Bengals first half was like the team was not there. Then to give up the opening kickoff in the second half.

These were suppose to be the best teams and up and coming teams. These teams have players who get paid well but in some cases many did not earn a pay check. The start may just be 1 game but the Titans had a tough start that kept on going till they were out of the playoffs before they even wona game. This is going to be an interesting year and which and teams will step up and put the first game behind them improve.

The Bengals maybe over hyped. They are changing the offense from a very good running team to a passing team. With the ego veteran WR and a mix of rookie players. Last year the play calling was terrible. For this team to win they need to pass the ball no more than 35 times a game. A good running attack makes for a better blocking offensive line. The Bengals have talent but how that talent is mixed together and plays before the ego's get in the way.

Jets have a great defense and a big mouth for a coach. With a second year QB and running back they will not be as good as people think. One person said that the QB is living the NY style of life in promoting himself and the team. Being interviewed here and there. Now they have the female reporter problem along with losing Kris Jenkins again for the season. Many people like the Jets. Their penalties kept their defense on the field to long. I can see them being closer to an 8-8 season.

The Colts maybe like the Steelers last year when Troy got hurt.. Bob Sanders was the reason the Colts won their only Super Bowl. He made up for the problems on defense. They still have Manning but they also have done a lot of changes in coaches and the new rule where the umpire lines up effects the speed of their game.

The 49er's have an unproven QB in which the organization really does not have a lot of confidence in. He was the #1 pick but he may not be able to led the team. They did get Troy Smith as a back up. The defense is good and the offensive line is young and improving. They do have a head coach who is passionate about the game. Sure he let his team know what he thinks. They are improving and playing in a weak division but are not ready for prime time. Unless they get some breaks like the Cards did when they made it to the Super Bowl.

These teams sure bring up some doubts on how good they can be. The changing band wagon fans will be teams after a few more early loses. I am a Bengals fan and they still have a lot of work to do.

I forgot the Dallas Cowboys since they played on Thursday. They have some major problems on the OLine that makes it hard to win. They had a terrible preseason along with an owner who wants to show off his team in the Super Bowl home game.

To me, it's the Ravens winning. Now the Steelers have to share 1st place. ;-)

Well, the Browns certainly didn't disappoint anyone in week 1.

Many of the teams came back to win after a disappointing first game. The Colts are winning 24-0 at half and the 49er's play Monday.

The big disappointments teams thought to have a good chance at the Super Bowl. The Cowboys and Vikings are both 0-2. The Cowboys can not put together a good red zone offense that is consistent. Now Whitten has a concussion. The Vikings are not able to play where everything came together like last year. His hold out drama is not doing well. His receivers have some health problems. They are also playing a tougher schedule

This year has some big ups and downs already after 2 games. Eevn the Pats who could do no wrong against the Bengals got beat by the team they really hate in the Jets. This is going to be an interesting year. I would not be surprised if the Cowboys or Vikings do not make the playoffs this year or maybe both.
