New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested on a drunken driving charge early Tuesday morning, the New York Post reported.
Edwards, 27, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated after he was pulled over at 5:15 a.m. for having overly tinted windows. Police said they smelled alcohol, and Edwards measured .016 -- double New York state's legal limit of alcohol -- on a Breathalyzer.
"We are very disappointed in Braylon's actions this morning," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement later Tuesday morning. "The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment.
"We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures."

gahs4ever,
You know darn well that the only reason Braylon was arrested in Manhattan was because he attended the University of Michigan. Then again, it could have been Cleveland's fault because he was out celebrating our 0-2 start. Maybe LeBron's mechanic called the police in advance.
What are the odds that Braylon learns quickly how to hold onto the soap?

He should be suspended for the rest of the year. 0.16 is like going out with a loaded gun where one mistake and someone or more than one person is dead. There is no excuse for this. He makes enough money to have a driver or afford a cab.

It doesn't matter. I mean, does Dante Stallworth ring a bell?

WOW they just said on Mike and Mike in the morning that each NFL club will pay or a company called Club Protect. That anytime a player needs a ride they can have a luxury/limo car driven by an ex police officer who will also be used for armed protection. So they even now really have no excuse.
Also they said that Vernon Gholston and D'Brickshaw Ferguson was in the car also but didn't say how drunk they were.
With the NFL having this program available for all players they are doing what they can but players still are responsible. This will not help the players in negotiations. They should have if a player gets convicted of DUI they must donate half their pay for the next year to DUI programs and suspended for a year without pay.

He should've dropped a drink or two. Maybe then he wouldn't have blown a .16.

They are saying on ESPN that Edwards was drinking with Stallworth the night Stallworth killed someone. WOW Stallworth since has changed or just hasn't been caught doing anything. The Jets are saying the union will not allow them to suspend him or deactivate him because of a drinking offense but the Jets do not have to play him or to the union to go to Hell and do it anyway.
Edwards will not get a big deal again.

With the players that this team continues to bring in it won't be long before the Bengals are seen as the 'monks' of the nfl...
