The (rumor) is that QB coach ken Zampese will be the new OC. Bernie Kosar wants out of cleveland. I heard he turned down the QB coaching job from cincy. Wants to go with Pats. This would not have happened if palmer didnt want out.
Benson also said he would not play for cincy if Brat was still OC. Zampese is wanted by 3 other teams to be OC. This helped in the process. So who will be the QB coach them. This is rumor coming out of cinci. Have to wait and see .
Bengals new OC.
Re: Bengals new OC.
Back in the early ‘90s, Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar set a league record (since broken by Tom Brady(notes)) by completing 308 passes in a row without an interception. While Kosar won his only Super Bowl as a backup to Troy Aikman with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1993 season, the Ohio native is beloved in Cleveland for his many years as the public face of the Browns.
Now the 47-year-old is trying to get into coaching. Apparently, the Browns aren't interested because the Boston Globe reports that Kosar has been "poking around" the New England Patriots the past couple weeks in hopes of landing a coaching position. And ProFootballTalk reports that WKNR Radio is reporting that Kosar has also been talking to the Cincinnati Bengals about a coaching gig there.
Wonder how Browns fans would take it if Kosar ended up in Cincinnati

The business world hasn't been necessarily kind to Bernie Kosar...

Bernie may know football, but not good on handling money. I would say he would try to coach other teams than bengals.
If he cant find anything, than i would say he would try bengals. (last resort)

I read the article originally when it was still fresh. Seeing one's boyhood heroes go down in flames is never fun. Please do not question the accuracy of my reading.
I loved Bernie as much as anybody. He and Mark Bavaro were THE two posters on my wall through high school.
Was Bernie a bright football player? Sure. But he ain't the only bright guy to ever be involved with football.
The fact remains that Bernie has not so much as coached a pee-wee football team (that I can find mention of) since leaving the NFL. He hasn't earned the right to be an NFL O.C.
I can't find the link I looked at yesterday, but the word is that Bernie isn't really interested in the work volume involved in being a coach.
He wants to hang out and be listened to, paid as a consultant, like so many people who find themselves underemployed but not really missing the long hours involved with actually WORKING!

Re: Bengals new OC.
After canvassing a variety of offensive coordinators on all levels, the Bengals appeared ready Thursday to tap the varied background of Jay Gruden.
There was no official announcement from the club Thursday morning, but the move first surfaced on ProFootballtalk.com Wednesday night.
Gruden, 43, the younger brother of former NFL head coach Jon Gruden who won two Arena Bowl titles as a head coach, is coming off a one-year stint as the head man and general manager for the UFL's Florida Tuskers. In between he served on his brother's staff in Tampa Bay as an offensive assistant for the seven seasons from 2002-2008.
Since quarterbacking Louisville in the late '80s, Gruden has played and coached in four pro leagues and coached in both the NFL and AFL from 2004-2008. Gruden didn't coach a position with the Bucs while assisting Jon Gruden with the game plan during the week and from the press box during games.
He fits the profile sought by head coach Marvin Lewis as a fresh-faced innovator and it looks like the Bengals are going back to at least a portion of their West Coast roots
In 18 seasons as a player and head coach, Jay Gruden never missed the Arena playoffs. While quarterbacking the Tampa Storm he won four league titles and an MVP award before embarking on a coaching career that began as the offensive coordinator for the AFL's Nashville Katz.
