It is that time again folks. After 3 rounds of high-speed breakouts...goalies playing out their a**...overtime thrillers...missed calls...and...UPSETS (along with sweeps in the east)...we come to St. Louis and Boston as the conference winners. A rematch of the 1970 final which the Bruins won in 4....Bobby Orr flying over the defenseman as he scores the cup clinching ot goal.

39 yrs later...they meet again.

Comments...thoughts are welcome as the final begins.

After a shaky opening period, Boston shook off the rust and dominated St. Louis rhe rest of the way...wimning game 1 4-2.

Sean Kuraly (Dublin Scioto HS) got the game winner early in the third period...Marchand added an empty netter for the final score.

The Blues just couldn't get their forechecking game going after the first period. Only had 3 shots in the second period and 9 for the third.

Let's see how the Blues respond in game 2.....

I am going with Boston in this one, though I do like both of these teams.

My mailman (born in the Boston area) and I agree...Bruins in 6.

Game 2 is in the books.

Crazy opening period with both teams taking advantage of a mistake...Bruins get a pp goal...Blues score even strength. 2-2

St. Louis got their forechecking going in the second. Lots of chances....no bueno...still 2 apiece

Ditto for the third period as well. Blues still doing well with the dump and forecheck game. Both goalies played well.

Overtime....all Blues. Strong forechecking from the start. And it leads to a goal by Gunarsson. 3-2 final

Game 3 in St. Louis on Saturday. Can the Blues keep it up or does Boston comeback like they have in earlier series.

Game 3

After a slow start, the Bruins opened up a can with Bergeron and Coyle scoring...then Sean Kuraly scored with 8 seconds left in the period. St. Louis tried to get the last goal turned over on offside...Toronto said no offside and the Blues were assesed a penalty.

And Pastrnak scores on that power play....4-0 Bruins very early in 2nd period.

St. Louis finally gets on the board...Barbashev puts one behind Rask but...a few minutes later, Krug scores on yet another power play.

Bennington is pulled...giving up 5 goals on 19 Bruin shots. Not all his fault...crappy puck management by St. Louis.

5-1 Boston...5 mins left in period #2.

B's win the next two games to bring Lord Stanley's cup back to Beantown

Bruins win 7-2...they take a 2-1 lead with game 4 Monday night from St. Louis.

7 different players got a goal...Krug led with a goal and 3 assists followed by Bergeron who had a goal and 2 helpers.

What's going to happen Monday night....wait and see. St. Louis has to have better puck management as they did in game 2. Boston just has to keep on keeping on...win the 50/50 battles...strong forechecking...and of course Rask weathering any storm the Blues throw his way.

Game 4

O'Reilly puts a wrap around shot behind Rask and St. Louis takes an early 1-0 lead just over a minute in the game.

The Blues goal came 43 seconds into the game...sorry.

Coyle ties it up for Boston...tapping in a rebound off a shot by Chara.

1-1 6 mins left in period #1

Tarasenko puts in a rebound from a Pietrangelo shot

2-1 Blues with 4 mins left...they have had the advantage imo...albeit a slight one.

No scoring in second period until....

Carlo puts a rebound past Bennington while shorthanded. 20th player to score a goal for Boston in the playoffs.

2-2 under 4 to play in 2nd period

No scoring until the 11:38 mark when O'Reilly gets his second goal of the game.

3-2 Blues under 9 mins left in regulation. St. Louis seems to have the better of the 3rd period so far

Schenn gets an empty netter to settle this series at 2 apiece. A repeat of game 2 for St. Louis...they got their forechecking going and outshot Boston.

Game 5 back in Beantown Thursday night

Game 5 at TD Garden....

Boston outshot St. Louis 17-7 but couldn't put one past Bennington. Marchand, who has not been a factor on offense, had a shot ring off the post. Bennington gave up rebounds but the Blues D saved him.

I give the edge to St. Louis...they weathered the storm. On to the 2nd period...

Uh oh.....

Marchand...Pastrnak...and Krejci for Boston have GOT to be frustrated. They have not played well on offense at all in the final so far.

Shots were pretty even in the second period...hits pretty even also but...

1-0 after 2 periods in Beantown

I think the B's coach might need to shake up the lines big time. We shall see...
