Why would you set these guys for the Bowl game? Im not understanding this their punishment is for next season not this year. You set them for 5 games next year and you let them finish out this season. People these kids sold objects they thought they earned. Look at Ron Artest he just raffled off his Championship ring for charity. A ring he won on the court. I know people are pissed that they sold these sacred objects, but you know what they worked their butts off to win those so they should be able to do with them what they want to because they earned them. We as fans might be angry and upset, but those arent our rings and trophys to do with what we want they are teh players who actually put in the blood sweat and tears to win them. Say Tyler Moller who has a chance at getting 6 pairs of gold pants wanst to melt down 5 of them and turn them into a wedding ring band for his girlfriend let him do it they are hsi to do with what he wants no matter hwo much we as fans object to it.
As for sitting them out of teh bowl game. The NCAA said they can play so let them play. They are suspended for next year not this year. They didnt commit a crime, they sold what they believed to be their own property. Now if these guys took money from boosters, committed crimes, cheated on a test or other academic fraud then yes sit them out for the bowl game, but their sentence starts next season not now.

This is one Buckeye fan who was ticked off that Boeckman got benched for TP

They have made me very proud on the field, and in the classroom, and the vast majority of the time in the community.

Coach Tressel, please make me proud to be a Buckeye fan by sitting those involved in this for the bowl game.

It actually will surprise me if they play, but don't expect Tress to make any announcements prior to the game.

It’s a promise Jim Tressel made on the night he was hired as Ohio State’s head football coach nearly 10 years ago. We’ll find out if he truly meant it the next time the Buckeyes take the field, Jan. 4, in the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas.

Tressel has the unique opportunity to show OSU fans and the nation that his program is about more than winning at any cost, that it cares more about integrity than pacifying big-dollar bowl sponsors, that its mission is to engrain life lessons and not just provide alumni a reason to boast.

A lot of coaches have that chance from time to time. Most don’t take it because they lack either the moral strength or the political clout to pull it off and still keep their jobs.

Tressel has both in abundance, so we’ll see if he ignores the questionable NCAA ruling that allows him to play Terrelle Pryor, Daniel Herron, DaVier Posey, Mike Adams and Solomon Thomas in New Orleans and benches them anyway.

I have a friend who is involved with the team (he prefers not to be mentioned by name) when the team got back from Christmas break, first order of business was discussion of this situation.

All players involved apologized to the team for their actions, TP cried like a baby when doing so. (he gets no sympathy from me)!

The team was very mad and disappointed at the actions taken.

However, they were more upset and sad that "several members of the coaching staff are leaving after the bowl". So far the only coach to leave is Darrell Hazell, but we should expect more of the staff to leave.

Going into next year we're looking at replacing:
Starting QB
top 2 RBs
top 2 WRs
3 probably 4 offensive linemen
2 defensive linemen and a starter for 5 games
2 Linebackers
2 defensive backs
Plus a couple of coaching positions

I laughed when I heard about a blog in Chicago saying Tressel was quitting. But an honest man of Tressel's character has to be hurt by this latest deal. I'm not saying he leaves because of this but obviously he is forced to work at cross-purposes to his convistions in letting these players play in the Sugar Bowl. It has to work on him at some level. Let's just say he probably won't challenge Joe Paterno for coaching longevity.
