Dont totally count out Washington or Villanova.Raiderball wrote:There have been a lot of years where the best team did not win the title.
91 Was Duke better than UNLV?
85 Villanova better than Georgetown?
83 NC State better than Houston?
Over the course of the season I think anyone would say no. If they played 10 times UNLV, Georgetown and Houston probably win at least 8 of 10 times BUT..... the underdogs only had to win one time.
Hard to pick one team to win it all this year but Kansas, Texas, OSU, Wisc, Duke and Pitt might be my top choices BUT.... don't count out UConn, Georgetown or Syracuse. Syracuse might have had their slide at the right time. Get it out of the way and then get hot.

Thats ok, we aren't drooling over the Big Ten either.peake wrote:I don't have a lot of faith in Big East teams once the tourny rolls around.
Everyone can drool over them during the regular season, but I am not buying.
After this weekend, Kansas holds unto the top spot but Duke continues to move up. Lots of balance this year in college basketball.

I agree with you about Villanova, just overlooked them. Washington I'm not sold on. Thought they would have had a better regular season. Unranked and 8 losses.

Kansas lost to K State by 16 Monday night. I look for Duke to move back into the top spot next week.Mister B wrote:Thats ok, we aren't drooling over the Big Ten either.peake wrote:I don't have a lot of faith in Big East teams once the tourny rolls around.

How far do Kansas, Ohio St, Texas and Pitt drop? Does BYU and SDSU move to 2 and 3?
Duke, BYU and SDSU are the only AP top ten teams that didn't lose this week.

With the tournament selection commitee, RPI, NCAA politics, etc., is there anything more irrelevant than the polls?

When is the last Big East National Title? Big East teams choke in the tournament. UConn in 04?

How many titles has the Big Ten won since 2004? Zero, one less than the Big East. This includes 3 losses by the Big Ten in the championship game. I guess this qualifies as a choke in your book.peake wrote:When is the last Big East National Title? Big East teams choke in the tournament. UConn in 04?

Re: Best team in the nation?
I realize Kansas lost to KSU but that was all the way back on Feb 14.
OSU, Texas and Pitt all lost this weekend. Their taste of defeat is more sour in the mouths of the voters than Kansas.
I would be real surprised if Duke jumps from #5 and no votes for #1 all the way to the top spot. They haven't won a game outside of the ACC since their embrassing loss to St John's. Because of this, I think Kansas hangs onto #1 and Duke jumps to #2.

Mister B, just so you know, I am a Duke fan. None of my comments pertain to the Big Ten.
ACC has won 5 sense 2000 and 2 of the last 3.

All we hear all season long is the big east this and that. When tournament rolls around they choke.
