Penn State fans are delusional

They are honoring Joe Paterno before the game Saturday. Are they bringing Jerry Sandusky in to do the coin toss?

Pathetic. These people can't move past what was allowed to happen on Joe's watch. Even worse, most of them just act like it didn't even happen.

If I had any respect left, I would have lost the rest of it.

I agree that Paterno should not be honored. However, could the "delusional" argument be applied to Ohio State and their fan's (myself included) reverence for all things Wayne Woodrow Hayes? Remember back to 1978 when Woody struck a Clemson player on national television and being forced to resign. A wrong is a wrong despite the severity of that wrong.

"A wrong is a wrong despite the severity of the wrong " said I. I was not making a moral equivalency argument.

So rape and murder are the same driving over the speed limit? Speeding is a crime, so it must be the same as the other two. Makes sense.

agreed red. no logic in that whatsoever. everybody knew woody was a live wire sparking all under the hood. and was very old when that happened. it wasn't right an he got canned. but to compare that with the joepa issue and jerry Sandusky incident is absurd at best.

and it is appalling to me this is going to happen. and I was a huge joepa fan. I even have an aytographed joepa jersey signed by him. tucked way away in the back of my closet. who would have ever believed that. it is pathetic this ever happened, if even 1 single person knew it was going on at any level.

nothing against omega, but I'm with danica here. you can't or should not even use the 2 in the same building. that's the bad thing. sometimes we say something on our mind , and the next thing you know it's there for the whole world to see. I've done the same thing too many times to count. I think the joepa/Sandusky thing deserves to be on it's own shelf, never to be repeated again. and what they are allowing repluses me, if this is the case, at the nittany lions game.

I like Omega and I like his posts. I just can't compare what woody did to a grown man to what happened at Ped State.

Ped State should have, under their own decision making, taken down everything associated with Joe Pa and trashed it. Not honor the man several years later. What a slap in the face for the victim's lives that were forever changed from an environment that should have been safe. Even AFTER it was brought to Joe's attention, it STILL happened. Not someone who deserves to be honored.

And also it's not right to put something on someone else's shoulders that some else does or did. Joe wasn't around Sandusky 24/7. He couldn't hold his "Sandusky's" hand and make him behave, Joe had his own life to live as well. He reported what he had heard was going on. He didn't "see" it happening. What a person don't see can't very well prove anything. The media and hear say has everyone pointing the finger at Joe. It's a very awful thing what them young kids had to go through from a sick individual like Sandusky. Only beef I have with Joe, is he should have fired Sandusky when he first heard about, and then told the school why he fired him. That would have got the ball rolling quicker to look into what Sandusky was doing. Bait, I use to be a big time Papa Joe fan as well, but my Penn State days are pretty much over. Never be the same over there IMO.

Doing nothing, makes him just as guilty.

And that's exactly what Joe Pa did when he heard about it. Nothing. Mike McQueary, a coach at the time, walked in on Sandusky messing around with a boy in he shower. He reported it. Joe Pa did nothing. What more did he he need to hear to get rid of Sandusky?

I understand what you are saying, but it is not the same thing, and should never be considered the same thing.

He did, the darn campus police even knew something was going on. It shouldn't be all put on Joes shoulders. I'm done on this hear say thread.

It's a shame ,but I bet a lot of gold diggers have come forward trying to take advantage of this tragic situation.

Debate and differences of opinion are a good thing. I guess my attempts at humor, irony, and sarcasm are too dark at times. I enjoy all on SEOP, even the Gen--, er the Inspector. My problem may have been too much Mad Magazine and Monty Python growing up. I apologize if I have offended anyone.

In no way was Omega saying one was as bad as the other. The point was schools honor coaches solely on wins and losses.

Great points made here. The head coach is a very busy man. Once he reported what was told He had to assume the the university would handle it.
