don't know how many hang around this board
anyway , for those that do --- Yes for Billy G or enough of Billy G ? I'm in the " anymore embarrasing loses " and I've had enough of Billy G and his smirk. and smart mouth. and home loses. need I say Garner Webb, VMI, both missippi's this year. lost 3 in a row to teams that we were double digit fav's over (or close to dd's)

Been a UK basketball fan for years!
Give him time.
He only has two real players in Patterson and Meeks!

If he stays 5 years, the program will be in trouble with the NCAA. Count on it.

Very true. When the shots are lined up at the frat house, he can really shoot em. however, he'll have to cheat to win enough to stay in Lexington. He wont have to win as much as Tubby did,(of course not many could) but he will have to do better than this. He plays in what could be the 5th or 6th toughest conference in the Country. he should do much much better.

so it is so bad at UK that you only have to be better than me to be the coach? Wow!

I would hope he would vist a Vandy game or two, before he comes to Ashland or russell to see kids, he will never party with/sign. Another humiliating loss to an inferior SEC program. Yes, Vandy is usually tough, but they are way down this year. Another year, where Smith would have been about 22-4 right now, instead of 18-8.
But you get what you pay for. Have another round, Billy

It would have been a different game with Patterson playing. Alot of Freshmen getting some experience, should help them in the long run. Hopefully Meeks and Patterson stick around another year.

UK would be lucky to be .500 if Tubby was stll around.
Tubby doesnt do .500. You are thinking about the aall mighty Rick Pitino in his Boston Celtic days.

na. Thats not Tubby and you know it. It's just that Minnesota doesnt mind having an African American Coach who is full of class and can flat out coach the game. Kentucky, well, they dont realy want a frat boy, who loses to Gardner Webb and who cant beat Pitino at Louisville(Tubby di beat Pinto this year, with far inferior talent)however, he is white.

Everyone knows Pitino can recruit. That has never been questioned by anyone. that is why his lack of coaching ability is so obvious. The guy has the best talent year in and year out and can only win one title? That is the whole point hammerdown. Smith is not the recruiter, he is a coach. Yes, Pitino can sell a bunch of Mercedes' but he cant coach.
Your head is way buried in the sand, if you have never heard a kentucky fan comment about Smith being black. You dont get rid of perenial 20 win coaches and coaches who win the SEC nearly every year. The fans didnt want the black guy, so the administration ran him out of town. Good for Tubby. he deserves better and he now has it. A program who appreciates him for what he is, a great coach and a great person. Also, UK now has what they asked for. A white coach, who loses to lowly ranked D1 opponents, who makes and a$$ of himself on and off campus. Oh, I forgot, he also does not win conference mchampionships. he's soon to be 0-2.

Could you list Tubby Smith's record at UK? Also, when you say ran it into the ground, please list his record at UK all years. How long did it take Tubby to run it into the ground. Please list the records that shows where he ran it into the ground. Could you also list his SEC championships and conference tourny championships?
No, everyone who roots for UK is not a racist. However, someone who worked for a long time in Kentucky and listened to the comments, well lets just say, those comments are being made about the "white guy" in charge now. keep your head buried Hammer. But first, please list our numbers for us.

1997-1998 Kentucky 35-4
1998-1999 Kentucky 28-9
1999-2000 Kentucky 23-10
2000–2001 Kentucky 24-10
2001–2002 Kentucky 22-10
2002–2003 Kentucky 32-4
2003–2004 Kentucky 27-5
2004–2005 Kentucky 28-6
2005–2006 Kentucky 22-13
2006–2007 Kentucky 22-12
WOW!!
He also won 20 games at Minnesota in his first season and is currently 19-7 this year, with a win over vaunted Ricky Pitino.
Tubby won 32 games in 2003, that was 6 years after Pitino. Let me know when Gillispie wins 32 at UK. Dont hold your breathe Hudini.

87-15 in years 6,7 and 8 after Pitino. When does Smith get any credit? 87-15? Lets see the frat animal do that anytime soon.

I wasnt comparing Tubby to pitino. Pitino wasnt fired. Pitino quit to go drag a once proud franchise to the gutter, because in the NBA you cant recruit the best team. All teams are great in the NBA.
As for Gillispie hoisting the trophy. No chance. They will be on probation before that happens.
Lets just see if the Kentucky fans hold him to the same standard as they did Tubby. He didnt win an SEC title last year and he wont win one this year. That will be 0-2. His complexion will give him more time in lexington, but how much?

your joking right?

i always thought the SEC championship was the conference champs.
who cares about SEC championships when you cant even get to the sweet 16. tubby knew he was done thats why he left and now billy g is stuck with the current program we have, thats how he ran it in the ground.
i think it is safe to say i talk with
a lot more people in ky than you and i have not heard acolor mentioned. so i'm pretty sure it's not my head is not the one burried 85.
Obviously UK fans and administration dont care about SEC titles. This will be their 2nd straight year of not winning one, in a very inferior conference. Nice to see you can laugh about it. We'll see who's laughing in 5 years.

Hammerdown, back at ya on the banter comment
However, having worked for 10+ years everyday with the "big blue nation", I know what those SEC titles mean. I think you may be "snowballin" a little to make Gillispie look a bit better.

agree to disagree on tubby's coaching ability. I will say this, if you win 20 at Minnesota and 20 at Georgia, you can coach. As for the 95% comment, i drove to Lexington everyday for 2 years and worked at the Valvoline headquarters building, the 5% must have all worked there. they were all SEC title crazy.
