Those 8th grade Jackson girls are awesome to watch! They have really got it together! Ridout is great, she is all over the floor! I can not wait to see what the future VARSITY holds for the Ironladies! The 7th grade girls did a good job also.

8th grade is loaded....speed, size, ball handling, shooting

Not just 1 or 2 players like many teams

I wouldn't blame the coach on here too much. lol

I can't imagine a more game experienced 8th team anywhere around here.

The 7th grade have not had alot of time together. The coach is plugging in players and trying to find the right mix. They made a change at point after the Logan game and are getting the ball up the court but they still seem hesitant to attack the basket and they need to stay at home on defense instead of chasing the ball.

What can you say about the 8th grade ??? experience and talent

jackson 8th grade team is a very talented group that plays above many 8th teams as in individual skills and are a very unselfish group. They played another very strong teamin vinton county, both very solid teams.

As for 7th grade, ironman1987 is correct about the coach substituting to find the right MIX, (substituting 4 & 5 at a time, hah :?: ) but he goes about it like trying to create a cassarole dish without a recipe. If you keep throwing enough stuff in it, you may eventually get it right. The key is to recognize it when it happens, don't think he's capable of that.

As for the girls, they play hard, but the guards aren't handling a press any better. The coach's words after a few turnovers are, "Kasey, get the ball and dribble all the way up the floor"; Kasey plays very hard and is very capable of handling the ball but plays the post, not the point. so the post players get the ball up the floor, not the point guard. The point guard has been to nervous to play like she is capable except @ VC, according to her father.
hopefully alot of individual skills have been worked on during this long Christmas break and we have an improved 2nd half of the season.

Best of luck to both the 7 & 8 grade squads.

I'm afraid its going to take alot for that 7th grade bunch. Neither point guard seems to be putting it together as the season moves along. One fires shots from anywhere and continues to miss and the other just can't handle the pressure. The coach plays about 10 different girls at wing and none for more than 2 minutes at a time. A couple of those girls could fill in at post as there only seems to be the two that can handle game situations and the subs wouldn't have even made most teams rosters. This team has talent but the coach has done little more than confuse this mess even more. This group lost one player before the school year even started and i wonder what will be left to work with next season at this point....
