I will agree to disagree with you snowman, I felt the Clay team was spread too much, and the lack of sharp mid to long distance passing was obvious. I feel that is a product of unfamiliar surroundings. The high school was comfortable, but I like it hot and sweaty when it comes to playing the game, it builds character.

Hey snowman, when Webster plays at Clay will we play at Rubyville or at the high school. If you know for sure, I'll spread the word to the parents so we make it to the right place.

I'll see what I can find out for you and post later.

I would imagine the teams will play at Rubyville. The games at the high school tend to be for special circumstances like not being able to play on there home court on Saturdays because of biddy ball.

I like the small school-small gym atmosphere. Tear down the rest of the building, but keep the "139 closet".

Hey guys, the schedule shows 1 girls game, and 1 boys game for tonight. Is it a combination of 7th & 8th grade?

I agree JL. I love the Rubyville "atmosphere." The walls sweating. The cold air coming in the door as people come and go. The wall to wall people on the stage. But it is time to move on. Its a great place to watch a game in the concrete bleachers or on the stage. However it is past its time. The floor is way too small. The junior high will eventually have one of the better "old" floors to play on when the new school is finally built since they will be using the current high school floor.

Great game early for the Panthers last night. When #23 got his 3rd foul, I thought they had a great shot at a win, until the threes started raining down from #21, #4, and #11. Clay challenged Notre Dame, and New Boston to shoot from three land, ND couldn't pull the trigger, but the Tigers sure did. After that the boys were too spread out to stop #4 and the #23 kid (Mohr?) from going one on one with undersized defense. On offense Clay couldn't buy a basket or make a free throw to save their lives. I love to watch these kids play though, they don't quit.

I walked in at the end of the girls game, they won by 10 or so. The boys played only 1 game, 7th & 8th combined. NB won 56-34 I think. It was a good game with the starters coach had in, but we couldn't buy a basket or make free throws. Clay had no help from the bench, and #21 lit Clay up from 3 point line.

What a 7th grade game, exciting to watch the boys fall behind by 9-10 points and keep fighting back. I thought the roof was coming off "The closet" when the schaffer boy made the 3 to tie the game. Big time game for schmidt, (spelling) but he was out of gas in overtime. I was up on "dignitary row" on the stage beside the high school coaches and you would have thought it was the championship game. The boys played nose to nose with probably #2 team in our league. #23 for SV was an athlete, but I noticed coach had the boys back off when he had the ball outside daring him to shoot the 3. Had to work early and missed second half of 8th grade game, heard they lost. Looks like the injury bug has hit both teams with one in a cast, and another hobbling in street clothes. Won't be making the trip to Western tonight, so please keep me informed and Goooooo Panthers!

Got to agree with you on the 7th grade game. It was a good game to watch. I give Clay alot of credit....they never gave up. I see where you get the name "THE CLOSET", but the gym sure brings back memories of old time basketball in the gyms we use to play in....back in the day!!!

Yes it does, but those days are numbered Gov. With our new schools coming, it looks like Clay's new Jr. high home will be at Rosemount high. It will be a great facility, but I for one will miss Rubyville. Well it's bed time for me, see ya"ll.

Symmes Valley won Rebel by 1 point in the last few seconds. Big foul shot made late by Schmidt for Clay to go ahead by 1, #5 gets long rebound and makes shot to end the game. How did the boys do at Western?

What a disappointing night for Clay. ND came to play, and Clay had no answers. The girls made a late run but fell short, the 7th grade boys didn't seem ready to play again, but give ND credit, they are a loaded team. Had to leave early 3rd qtr of 8th grade game, but they played very well. Good defensive performance from an obviously out manned team. Does anyone know what happened to #10 for Clay? They were putting ice on his leg/ankle after he went down, didn't get to see if he returned. Well keep me informed about this week's games, I hope to make it to some of next week's games, Gooooooo Panthers!

Clay has a really nice group of 7-8th grade girls. I was suprised ND was able to get the W last night after so poorly out to rosemount 10 days ago. I'd guess Clay felt about the same way we did after the 1st game -- that they just did'nt play anywhere near their "A" game.
Jake --I know Katie R, and Freeman are 7th graders , which other girls have 1 more year at the jr high level ? ND is all 8th graders except for 1 (that gets some p.t. anyway)
