It usually starts at 10:00. But gets to you according to where you sit. The weather looks great for Monday. I hope there is a great turnout.

With gas prices up so high...and it costing so much to go somewhere out of town..this could be one huge attended parade!

Re: The Ironton Memorial Day Parade
I have probaply only missed two parades since I was two. I know some people think they are hokey but in my family it has always been a tradition. When I was a kid relatives came in and stayed a few days and after the parade we had a huge family get together. My children have been taught respect for our military and those who have died who fought for the freedoms we so casually take for granted. I enjoy it!

The Jr. High cheerleaders will be in the first division. They will be behind the varsity girls.

Anyone know the division lineup? (I mean in general, I don't need to know every unit in the parade).
Re: The Ironton Memorial Day Parade
My guess is, that will be in Sunday's Ironton Tribune. and yes, the Parade starts at 10:00 AM.
For many years the Parade started at 6th St and Park Avenue and ran the "wrong way" UP 6th St [it's a "one-way street"] then across Quincy and down 3rd. I attended a church located at 6th and Center Sts. located just a block short of the start, so the initial Division was in place lined up in front of that church prior to the start. They always ask that all the Church bells in town be rung just prior to the start of the Parade. One year, I got asked to perform that duty, which I'd never done before, at that church. I took my small [5-6 yr old] daughter with me up to the belfrey tower. Together, we grasped the rope [obviously, me at a much higher level] and pulled down at the appointed time. Unwisely, I then immediately let go - and watched my small daughter, still holding tight to the rope, rise to my height and above, carried up by the weight of the bell!!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! And we were supposed to continue to ring the bell several more times! Thankfully, we did manage to do that.
We [my kids and I] enjoyed many years at that "start of the Parade" vantage point, but I no longer attend that church for entirely other reasons.
Several years ago, they decided to reverse the route and NOW start the Parade at 3rd and Park and go UP 3rd, across Quincy, and back DOWN 6th, so that church is at the end rather than the beginning of the Parade route.
