Sleeping with tv or radio on or do you need it quiet?

I usually leave the television on, muted for the light. Then I play some easy listening stuff on my iPod.

TV on with the timer set. I can't go to sleep when it's too quiet, but once I do go to sleep I don't hear anything.

ceiling fan, on low this time of year to circulate heat

noise maker plugged in. make wind sounds.

tv on, till i get super sleepy, then i turn it off. and get to sleep.

My house stays a constant 70 degrees year round..... I freeze....My husband sweats...No happy medium! As for a quiet house...HAHAHAHA!!! I wish! I like it quiet when I go to sleep at night but during the day I can go to sleep with tons of noise...go figure?

70 in the winter 74 in the summer.. and the electric bill is still almost 300 total electric but on a month we don't use heat or air its still almost 200
we hope to get a new heating and cooling system this summer

if just a nap - the tv or radio can be on, it doesn't bother me, but, at bedtime it
must be dark, quiet, and the fan on, all year round.

I run the fan on high when im sleeping, and if its turned off im up as soon as the noise stops.

I have tried sleeping in the quiet this last year only because of having female guess and though I found it hard but not impossible.

At home I have a white noise generator; rain sounds. On the road, I need the fan up high. One other thing, it must be totally dark in the room.
