Word is out on ESPN that he took 30 K while at North College Hill. Will the titles be taken away from NCH?

His statements are that he was investigated throughly and that had he done this 'he' claimed it would have been found out already.

I wondered the same thing about the NCH titles. Ironton might win that one after all It was like traveling circus with Mayo and Walker and it's always been puzzling to me how they or why they wound up at NCH

I don't know how the whole title thing works. I know a couple of years ago a couple of players from Africentric were ruled ineligible. I think they found out before the title game though. They had just beaten South Webster I believe.

According to an OHSAA official quoted in the Cincy paper, the finding of wrongdoing and hearing must occur within 42 days of the state final for anything to be done. That time frame has passed.

Ironton gave NCH all they wanted in that game and they (IRONTON) should have won.

I never liked the way Mayo jumped from school to school. Something just is not right about that.

Didn't he have to leave NCH because he would've been too old to play in Ohio? I mean, my goodness, he was 16 in the 8th grade.

No I think he left NCH because he had already played 4 years of high school basketball I think....could be wrong.

Yeah, you may be right on that. One reason or another he left because he had no more eligibility left in Ohio.

From my recollection, he left NCH because Bill Walker had been declared ineligible and he didn't want to stay there without Bill and would have rather gone back home, Huntington, to play his senior year. He had not used up his OHSAA eligibility. It starts once you start the 9th grade and he'd only used up his three of his 4 consecutive years of eligibility. From my recollection as well, he was within the age limit for Ohio since he would have turned 19 after the proper date to remain eligible for his senior year. The two years he played varsity in Kentucky had no effect on his years of eligibility in Ohio. The only eligibility the OHSAA counts is once you start your 9th grade year and you have four years after the 9th grade starts.

Refresh my memory as to why Walker was ineligible.

I'm thinking it was because he played as a freshman at Rose Hill, then again as one at NCH? Same age as OJ, but a grade ahead until then.

probably setting in the trophy case at Huntington High with the state championship trophy.......

I dont think it will hurt him in the draft. It happens all the time and the Pro coaches and GMs know it. Most guys just dont get caught.

Walker played the 2002-2003 basketball season at Rose Hill as a Freshman, then in February of 2003 enrolled as an 8th grader at North College Hill. According to OHSAA rules, his eligibility clock started as a 9th grader for the 2002-03 season he spent at Rose Hill. His 9th grade year at NCH, 2003-04 constituted his 2nd year of eligibility, and so on making him ineligible for his 12th grade year at NCH, which from his starting point of 2002-03 would have been his 5th year as a high schooler, even though he spent Feb-May of 2003 as an 8th grader by enrolling back a grade at NCH.
