Dumping Laws

Post by Football Guru »

So today I was notified someone from the county came to one of my houses. Actually ,it was the one my father left me and I have not even owned it a year yet.

So I have been cleaning it up (it was severly overgrown, it had set abandoned for about 5 years), tearing down old barns and buildings and such....and they have the nerve to come out and tell me I am dumping.

If I am not in Portsmouth City Limits, and I have a small pile of wood/trash/etc....is that really considered dumping?

I mean this guy was extremely rude. He threatened, believe it or not, 2 years in prison and a 10,000 dollar fine.

Does anyone know the actual law for Scioto County?

And better yet, does anyone else think its silly that by making the property look better, I am getting in trouble for a small pile of trash?

Contact the County Commissioners and let then know whats going on ask them what the laws are.

I live in Wheelersburg and we have a huge pile of trash behind our house from where we have been remodeling and I haven't had one complaint. We did haul quite a bit of it away over the weekend, but there's still a pretty good size pile.

Tell the guy to get the hell off your property. Let him write the ticket.....tell it to the judge. As long as you are making improvments and activley working on it....your not "dumping".
