Gwyneth Paltrow, came under fire last week when she told a Portuguese newspaper that she doesn't feel American."The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans," Paltrow said. "They don't talk about work and money,they talk about interesting things at dinner." Al Gore distanced himself from Lindsay Lohan after the actress sent out an e-mail claiming that Gore had offered her public relations advice.In the e-mail,Lohan said that with Gore's help,she planned to "state my oppinions [sic] on how our society should be educated on for the letter of our country." She noted that her views could make a difference,"because I have such an impact on our younger generation,as well as generations older than me."His spokesman said Gore "had only met Ms Lohan once,very briefly."
A Texas college student is at the center of Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston's breakup,said the San Antonio Express-News. Wesley Snipes was arrested in Florida last week,two months after being charged with tax fraud.Snipes had been shooting a film in Africa during that time,and surrendered to authorities upon his return .He was charged with failing to file tax returns from 1999 through 2004,and for fraudulently claiming refunds totaling #12 million.He pleaded not guilty and was released on a $1 million bond.

Koral Karsan allegedly threatened to release private information about Ono,including recordings of conversations,if she did not pay him $2 million.He told her that "he had people on standby waiting to kill her on his orders, said an assistant district attorney.Karsan allegedly presented his demands in a letter that he gave to Ono on Dec. 8,the anniversary of John Lennon's murder.
Two weeks ago Bob Dylan demanded a halt to the distribution of a new film that,he says implies that he was responsible for the 1971 suicide of model Edie Sedgwick.The Sedgwick boipic,Factory Girl, features a character named Danny Quinn whose callous ending of their romance triggers her fatal depression. Dylan,who reportedly dated Sedwick in the 1960s,says the character wears his trademark harmonica brace and hat."You appear to be laboring under the misunderstanding that merely changing the name of a character will immunize you from suit,"Dylan's lawyer wrote to the preoducer."That is not so."

The FBI has arrested an Atlanta man for trying to extort $1.5 million from Oprah Winfrey. Authorities say Keifer Bonvillain, 36,secretly recorded phone conversations with a Winfrey employee whom he'd befriended.He then sent Winfrey an E-mail saying that the recording containd "awful things" that would "not destroy but hurt" the star's reputation.He threatened to sell his tapes to the tabloids if Winfrey did not pay up.
