Fishing stuff

Why do they call fishing rods, reels, plugs, etc., "TACKLE" ? .... and why do they call various artificial baits "plugs" ?
Always wondered about that.

Yeah, I've been around some of your stink Bait. Especially that one at the CG Giovanni's.
I wouldn't expect you to know anything about TACKLE since you rode the pine most of your career.... up until you broke your back in 9 places falling off the bench.
