I always heard that when the leaves on a hickory tree got as big as a squirrel's ear that was the time to hunt them.
Then I noticed that different kinds of hickories leafed out at different times but I guess it's in the same general time frame so it's still a while away.

So what are the conditions in which you guys find your mushrooms? I have ever only had luck with finding them under dying elms and of course dying apple trees. I have always heard that sycamore trees were good spots, but I have never found that to be. I might be searching under the wrong ones.
