Power Pole - Love To Have One

Man, I'd love to have one of these on my boat. I like fishing jigs and this would allow one to so slowly work a long sloping point! They sure don't give them away though. The 8' version is $1400.00, not including installation! It will hold your boat still up to a 35mph current and wind and deploys silently in 4.5 seconds! They have a remote that you can put around your neck for it..that's about 300 more bucks! I'd just as soon have a foot switch up front myself though..

I thought of you this evening Big Orange One on Yatesville. I was tossing a huge crank-bait and got it hung down deep. I got my lure retriever, the same one you and I both bought this spring. Anyway, I had to open it up all the way to reach that bait..then, plunge half my arm there too so it was easily at least 12'+ ....I finally snagged onto something..gave it a huge tug and what happened? all but the end of that thing separated from the rest of it and down into the water it went! Man, I was ticked. I finally just broke my line and hoped it would come up with it...NOPE...gone it is...and my lure? it came popping back up to the surface...

That crankbait you jerked loose probably cost more than the extend-a-pole you broke so considering other lures you have probably saved, too, it was still a good investment.

I've used mine several times with no problems but never that deep.....often to retrieve my wife's lures from trees. For some reason, when she casts she has she has no concept of whether her lure is going 20 feet from the boat or 20 yards up on the bank.

My lure retriever works well for tall tree work. :-D

I've gotten pretty good over the years at snaking a crankbait through brush and such and not getting hung up so I hadn't used it yet. This WAS the first time I ever used the thing...too funny, huh?

Power poles are far superior to an anchor! Silent, no effort to raise and lower and they do it quickly. You can be on a breezy point..sit it down...fan cast a point with a jig or Carolina rig a worm/lizard...then, just lift it..let the wind carry you another 40' or so and deploy it again and exhaustively work the area slow crawling.

Try telling that to the next Watercraft Officer when he checks your boat for an anchor. I'll bet they raise and lower VERY quietly and quickly in 30 feet of water.
