Burg @ Valley - 12/18

Post by valley23 »

It will be interesting to see how the Indians perform against the slow it down, grind it out style of play the Burg will bring. Hopefully Valley's defense can speed things up by forcing turnovers and getting some fast break points. Valley's half court offesnse and defense will be put to the test. I'll go with Valley winning 61 - 47.

If Valley doesn't turn Burg over, "Barrick ball" will keep it close.

This will be a tough game for Burg and I agree that taking care of the ball will be a key to the game. Burg will need to shoot well from the perimiter as well. After the 1-9 start last year, 4-1 at this point is a great start for the Pirates. Nothing to be proud of, but after 5 games last year Burg was averaging 41 ppg and this year at the same point they are averaging 53 ppg and I am not sure if Burg made it to 60 points in ANY game last year and they have already twice this year. Bottom line.....Barrick Ball is moving a little faster than last year 8)

Thats because the Burg doesn't have a basketball following that much anymore losing brings less interest. Football not far behind.

Valley won 56-51. Burg started off really cold and ended up down 10 early in the game, but fought back to be down only 4 at the half. Again in the 3rd Valley started to pull away, but Burg came back late in the game to tie it late in the 4th, but couldn't get anything to drop to take the lead. Valley made a couple nice runs, but Burg was able to fight back after both of them. I was worried about Valley being able to press and force a lot of turnovers against us, but it seemed like Valley had more turnovers last night. Burg is actually starting to play some decent basketball and I am sure Barrick will keep making adjustments to get them better in the second half of the season.

Missed this one. I figured the score would be in the 40's. Still, Burg kept it close!

Until the Burg starts playing with some discipline or learns how to shoot, they are going to continue to lose games like this. They cannot get points in the paint when they have to have it. I expected a little more from a team with all of their players back.
