Re: Warren vs Newark Catholic 1/21
Just got back from Warren vs Newark Catholic game and all I can say is WOW... Was a pleasure to watch the Warriors battle both JV, which we won 48-46, and varsity. The boys never quit. Have to hand it to Coach Maddox and Coach Duckworth for a job very well done.Keep it up Warriors and get better every day. GO BLUE ! ! !

One of the best defensive games I have seen Warren play. Patton stepped up big time as well as Michael Hall. This was a true test and I think we passed with flying colors. We still have a turn over issue, but good defense will do that. There guards gave us a tough time in the half court. We atill have some things to work on but an overall great win for the program. Congrats to Coach who called timely timeouts to halt runs and to set defense.

Not taking anything away from the rest of the Warriors but Dylan Leffingwell absolutely put the lockdown on Jett Speelman.

I agree. Leffingwell made a mess of the middle of NC offensive sets. Clogged everything up inside. Tuff and physical but don't leave out smart too. I also thought Hall's ability to run the point when both Yabs and Lang got 2 quick fouls in the 1st quarter was huge. A 6'5" point guard gave NC a huge matchup problem. They tried Speelman but then Leftingwell owned the paint.Native Warrior wrote:Not taking anything away from the rest of the Warriors but Dylan Leffingwell absolutely put the lockdown on Jett Speelman.

Warren played a great game against a very talented team.....in my opinion Warren won because of the guy on the bench. Not sure why Newark Catholic runs the Princeton with a pair of highly skilled 6'7 kids on the floor. They caught the ball three times as many times at the three point line as they did in the paint. Also, why not put the ball in your stud pg's hands at the end of the game? Just felt like the coaching advantage was pretty one sided as a neutral observer.

Agree! This is the 2nd game this year, the first being at Athens, where I felt our advantage on the bench was the difference in winning and losing. The kids make the plays but the coach gotta put'em where they can make those plays. At Athens down big early but chipping away and keeping the game in striking distance was big. Yesterday the way Maddox handled the foul situation when Yabs and our defensive stopper Lang both picked up to quick fouls. Maddox managed the game, kept the team in striking distance. HUGE ATVANTAGE WARRIORS!newlex/sheridan wrote:Warren played a great game against a very talented team.....in my opinion Warren won because of the guy on the bench. I'll triple-stamp that double-stamp. Made no sense to me.
On the other hand, I'm always impressed when I watch a Coach Maddox team. His boys do a lot of things between the ears well.
Other random thoughts:
- David Meurer was the best player on the floor.
- He, Reece Patton, Connor Keck, Michael Hall and a mop (not even a particularly long mop) could win a regional title.

Warriorfrosh - Dont bother! Haters Gonna Hate! They can't help it. It's what they do! Don't you just love it when the most positive thing somebody has to say about their own team is to "trash" me or the team that I'm rooting for. Or maybe it's the pain and anguish of 5 straight losses the the Bulldogs have suffered to the "Boys in Blue" LOLwarriorfrosh wrote:Spartan is jealous
