when me and my teammates played the run and gun for coach phillips everyone on the team had something to contribute to the team and i think the coaching staff will find something for pendelton and other team members to contribute this year the only thing is for this to work each player must accept the role the coachs give you it may be defense, shooting, rebounding, ball handling, passer so i would think the more kids that come out the better the team can be so encourage each other and support each other instead of smacking on other teammates

We've just got a kid wanting to elevate himself by trying to take down others. Hopefully that doesn't spill into the locker room.

In the system West is running this year, everyone needs to be a threat to do everything. With their size, rebounding is a full team effort. With that tempo, everyone must be a ball handler and shooter. Sure Van Gundy or Perry or whoever plays the point will get the first touch, but all bets are off after that. I agree that the boys need to accept the role they are given, but be ready to do it all if called upon.

Justin Van Gundy is a great example of this. He let the seniors shine last year, but played as hard as anyone. Then Northwest came to West determined to not let Boyce and co. beat them, so they left Mr. Van Gundy wide open on the wing...I bet they don't do the same this year.

If everyone accepts their role, their time will come.

Van Gundy has waited for his time and from what I seen never complained, he even took off football season to get ready for basketball, he'll do what ever he can to win. I heard it through the grapevine Travis Journey is playing now, that will be even more ball handling and speed. I think with Perry, Journey, Gundy, Alfie, and people like Tyler Austin, Pendleton, and Adkins rotating in they will be better than most expect, conditioning will a factor. I know for a fact that football players are in shape (and I know that basketball shape and football shape are completly different) and if everyone else is as well, they could were some bigger teams down and beat them in the fourth quarter. By the way, in case you didn't know Pendleton can run he was one of the fastest players on the football team...

What kind of defense are you running? If you think Pendleton cant "keep up" your sadly mistaken. He is alot faster than most people think and if your running a motion offense he can shoot outside. Dont think that he is just a football player.

I personally created this account just to let you know how childish and inmature you are. Do you honestly have to put down your teammates to try and make yourself look better. Sounds to me like you are worried about Pendleton playing basketball. I am sure Trevon has never personally done anything to you, so you are just a little jealous punk. Why dont you be a man and go to Trevon and tell him how worried you are about him playing basketball. If you can't do that then keep your childish mouth off of him. You got it? Do be afraid and hide behind a user name. Man up. We know who you are.

Do you even play? they play man to man defense so the coach will match you up with who he wants you to guard. If you do play for the team then you are a disgrace to your teamates and to your school. I can imagine sitting the bench is tough but dont run your mouth on other players. You are part of the problem, not the solution. I've played sports my whole life and you act like you know things that we dont. You are a sorry excuse for a teamate, your like the guys on the football site that are only true fans when your winning. I have been a part of the offense your running and for you to say the things you have said is ignorant "that means non educated little fellow"!

Ok, Whoever this is posting all this crap about their teamates is a pile of bull crap. Why do players get on here and bash their teamates? Whoever you are, you dont need to be on the team if you cant respect the players around you! I hope Journy, Gundy, Bricker and the rest of the bunch can have a solid year with the new coach, West had a solid season last year with Coach Kitchen,10-10 record regular season but with a early exit in the tourny when they played a solid Adena ball club, but they lost a good coach in Kitchen and a solid senior class last year in Simpson, Brandenburg and Jordan. Just hope you guys can build off of last years turnaround of the program. I'll be there rooting you guys on every game, I can guarentee you that, I've watched about every game the last couple of years, I was one of few studets that went to any games last year, and that another problem that West has with their basketball program, they dont have no support from the student body during away games. I was at their game last year at Coal Grove and I was one of two students last year, and the only reason the other one was their is because he drove me there. I cannot stand that our student cant go and support their bball team on the road, yea we did have good atmosphere at some of the home games, especially the Oak Hill game last year, but the students need to learn to get on the road and support their ball club like they do the football team. I hate that I'm no longer in High School to support the team, but trust me it isnt gonna keep me from cont. to go to all their games. Good Luck to Coach Smith and Phillips on the soon coming season.

GO WEST!!!

i dont know how many wins they will get this year but i know one thing if this kid is on the team and is jealous of other teammates he wont last long. the one thing could possible hurt west is playing a new system this year but once they get used to playing fast i can see the wins start coming.

First Scrimmage is tonight vs. Clay and Raceland, atleast that is what the schedule says. Hopefully this is the start of a good season!

yea they did look pretty good..and there defense was pretty good..the only thing is when they would double team the ball holder they would leave the man down low open the whole time and clay and raceland scored alot off of there five man..lol..but west did cause them to turn the ball over numerous times...i think it was cuz they were scared to get tackled by timmy evans..lol..but they did good!

yea hes playing but i dont know if he is on varsity or not...but he did do pretty good...i seen him make i think two threes and he was rebounding over everyone...i think he should take cody groves's spot on varsity...that kid cant play defense for nothing!!..in that scrimmage for some reason he kept running up to double team leaving his man under the basket wide open and thats how clay scored half there points....if coach can fix that little loop whole then i think they are gonna be a great team..and the only way to fix it i think is to put pendleton there or someone else other then groves.
