west jv plays portsmouth at home tomorrow
west varsity plays at machester tomorrow
as for the clay, raceland scrimmage it was a little messy but what do you expect when they just had one day of practice i bet you will be seeing a different result when we come over to clay in a week or so.plus i dont think clay could hang four quarters with west considering they turned it over like 20 to 30 times in two quarters they just lucky west couldnt make a shot missed like 16 threes and 15 layups

103-63 Manchester...West needs alot of work, but I think they will get it together when they get in basketball shape. Best of luck SIDERS!!

we scrimmage ironton st joe and peebles tonight and i thought it was a good scrimmage for everyone.everyteam won some quarters tonight.we finally started to make some shots which we really struggle with at manchester. i look for peebles and st joe to have good seasons they have some really good players.

Was there some issues at the last game? Sounds like it is gone to be a long year for Mr. Smith and Mr. Phillips, when your a coach at that level you can't let the parents and players run the show. Heard they have already allowed that to happen. No Discipline!!!

there is nothing wrong with coach smith he has been trying a bunch of different rotations and groups and a couple of boys just cant handle not being the star instead of whats best for the team as for the parents its going to be the same as it always has ,if my kid does good than great if he's not playing then the coach sucks for some reason the parents cant see the team concept either there is more players than just a few kids, man we won several varsity games this summer with only one senior and a couple of juniors and alot of soph. and freshman because we played together as a TEAM not individuals

Yeah, when I saw them at Manchester, I did not like there press. But they have alot of talent and a team to watch out for.

Re: Portsmouth West 08-09
I think everyone on here needs to allow Coach Smith to coach this team...All the football players have only been with this team for about 2 weeks, most of which didn't even play with the team this summer. They are not in basketball shape, they don't know Coach Smith very well, the team is still learning a very aggressive system, and won't be completely comfortable for a while, but from what I understand from a couple of very close sources that the honeymoon is over and the law has been laid down. Expect the siders to play hard, and play the right way. If they don't there may be some changes to the roster....

Once they get to know the coach and the offense and defense they are going to run, they will be Ok. No doubt they have alot of talent, just hope Coach Smith can get it out of them. Good luck this season West!
