I gave you earlier what I knew about Westfall.

Athletic, veteren group...not really basketball players, but athletes who can play a little bit. They have underachieved the last couple seasons, but a new coach may turn things around.

Do you have a schedule of the rest of the day at ZT?

West Union had a tough time adjusting to a lot of things today. For one, we did not play that great at all. It was an off night for everyone, which is highly unlikely in most cases. We weren't getting a lot of help from the refs either. And as a coach, I am not making or breaking a game on refs, but I thought some of the calls today could've went our way and they didn't. I don't think today's score nor the effort that we gave was a true West Union effort. The boys did complain about being tired and fatigue still from lastnight. Given that they played extremely well and hard lastnight and had to come right around and do it during the day today, I could see that also being a factor.
All in all, I was personally glad as a coach to play these two teams early in the season. Both Fairland and Westfall have great ball clubs and ran the ball really well. League play starts for us this coming week and we need to put our focus on the league and the league games.

mr. hoops,
how does fairland and westfall compare to north adams? if you don't have much depth why did you play back to back?

The reason why we had to play back to back games this first weekend was because when I was hired it was late. I didn't have much say in the scheduling of games. It wasn't to the point that we didn't have depth, because I can go 9 deep on my bench. I just played those 9 guys a lot Friday night. They all played with a lot of intensity and with the game being as fast paces as it was, it was difficult on our guys.

Both Fairland and Westfall in my opinion will be the two fastest teams we will see all year. Fairland is a much more athletic ball club than Westfall. They play tremendous defense and take care of the ball. I believe they only had 5 turnovers against us. It would definately be a great match up between Fairland and NA again come tournament time.

It's hard to believe a head coach would get on here and complain about the refs. I guess that is just a sign of youth and inexperience. Refs do talk and I wouldn't look to get a lot of calls for awhile if they see a coach bad-mouthing them. There are always calls in a game that you'd like to get or think that should have gone your way, but to get on here and call them out -- that's not a good approach.

Peebles Buck is correct in his statements, they are a fraternity and they converse about coaches. I am not sure if responding to fans/critics on a message board is advisable for a varsity coach, especially a young coach. You are not going to please everyone and if you try I think success will be hard to come by. The late great Al McGuire always said that if you are concerned about what people think of you don't coach because you are always going to make someone angry.

Let me first say this Mrhoops . I noticed you as a coach last year and I was very impressed and I'm glad to see get a chance to be a head coach. I thought your team was much improved over last year. You are going to be a good coach and don't ever loose your enthusiasm but I would watch what you say on this board. But hey I think a lot of refs are not very good and unfortunately it is rare when you get a good called game. Good luck and I hope to see us both up at the convo and if you play us next year (FHS) try to play the game on Sat.

Tar Heel 44 your reply makes absolutely no sense. The message, as boomer referred, is rooted in support not negativity. I think Kyle has a very bright future and I like the enthusiasm in which he does his job. My post and peebles bucks' was offering advice and constructive criticism. Whether or not he accepts it is up to him but here is another piece of advice coach, surround yourself with good people that know the game and stick to your convictions and you'll be fine. Best of luck to you and the dragons.

What are you trying to say? That the coaching staff is the problem?
