Word on the street is that Buckeye Trail is leaving PVC for IVC that features Malvern, Garaway, Hiland and many others.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2014/2015
Would that be Third Street D'spy??
But then....You are usually first to know

Cadets prove they are a top team in the district by drilling (5-1) St Clairsville 64-48 in the Red Devils backyard

You might want to slow your roll a little before you get too carried away.EasternDspy wrote:Cadets prove they are a top team in the district by drilling (5-1) St Clairsville 64-48 in the Red Devils backyard
Great win for FF, but this isn't the St C teams of the past. I can think of a couple teams real quick that I'll choose over FF in this District.

One of the top teams in the district. Garaway is struggling. If I had to rank them as of now 1. Union Local 2. Fort Frye 3. St Clairsville 4. Monroe Central 5. Garaway... Overall this is not a great yr for the Eastern District

The IVC is looking to expand by 4: Claymont, Indian Valley, Tuscarawas Valley and Buckeye Trail. The article I read sounds like this is an all or nothing deal that is still a year away. I can see why Trail might want to change it up, but they're a good fit on the field in most sports. If it happens, The PVC schools will have some interesting choices to make.

Fort Frye is about where they always are in the district, but you have to take into account someone like Martins Ferry, who won't come in with a good record but be good by tourney time. Garaway usually has their stuff together by then and will be dangerous

PVC needs to beg Belpre and Barnesville to join. Also heard Trail is leaving OVAC
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2014/2015
It isn't the worst idea I've ever heard, but I can't really see Belpre leaving The TVC for The PVC. I believe Barnesville has been invited a couple of times and turned it down, haven't they?

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2014/2015
The PVC has been slowly dying for a while now. I really don't see anyway to save it at this point. You might prolong it a few years, but it's going to die soon.
It was a very good league at one point, but it is long past that now.
Buckeye Trail would have to leave the OVAC to play the IVC schedule. It wouldn't qualify for anything even if it tried to stay because of the minimum games required.
Barnesville has always made some sense, but there isn't much if anything for them to gain by joining.
All teams left are already in the OVAC and will likely still play each other, so I don't think it will really matter all that much as far as scheduling goes.
Hard to swallow for us "old timers" who played in some terrific games and rivalries. I saw many gyms filled to capacity with chairs on the baselines to see some great teams play.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2014/2015
People talk about Frontier joining RVL and I'm not sure there is to many other options at this point. Morgan though much bigger I think would consider a change to the PVC rather then get pounded by the MVL.Im not sure why Belpre would not consider since most of the PVC schools are short trips beside Trail who is leaving. Also not sure why Trail wants to leave for a league where they will have to travel to East Canton.

I dont quite understand the reasoning behind Trail leaving for the IVC. In the PVC, they could field some competitive teams fairly regularly. Now you go into a league where you have to go against the likes of Garaway, Malvern, and Ridgewood in football, and add Hiland to that mix in basketball. I don't see much success there.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2014/2015
The PVC would mean short trips for Belpre, but their travel is already relatively easy. They already have established relationships with TVC schools. What would the advantage be?
Geographically, Fort Frye should be in The MVL, but we're just not big enough. If The PVC decided to suspend operations, I think we'd just be in The OVAC. It's a fun league and we'd keep playing most of the historical rivals.
