I stand corrected! I thought Minford's athleticism would give Eastern problems. But it sounds like Eastern handled them nicely. Good win Eagles! It's always feels good for the small school division to get a win over the bigger school division.

Congrats to Coach Fitch and the boys! I am not amazed that the Eagles won...but wow look at the margin!
Last season, they had glimpses of defensive excellence but did not maintain it. Sounds like they found it last night. Keep it up!

I have to agree with you falconator I dont believe the soc 2 is as strong as it has been in the past right now, it was being talked up early how strong it is.
A few of the teams were in the playoffs this yr for football Oaks, Minford, Burg and West so they did get a late start for B-Ball, might be a factor in how they are playing early on, but as of right now it isnt looking strong, come tourney time they might be pretty tough outs though?
Waverly has a long way to go to being complete, depth is a big issue for them, guard wise they are ok, but if a couple of the bigs get into foul trouble there is no size to bring in.

Re: Eastern Pike @ Minford
Just wanted to point out something I noticed at the end of the game that I forgot to mention earlier. At the end of the game when time was running off the clock, Mcvey offered a hand out to a falcon player to say good game. Minford players started doing this in return as well as other eastern players. Just wanted to give kudos to both teams for good sportsmanship after the game. Not something you see everyday, usuall you only see players shake hands in the line at the end of the game. Usually only the bad things get noticed on here, so I thought I would point out something good.

Minford is going to be like the Bengals this year. Beat the best teams or come close and lose to teams you would think they would beat. I was suprised when I looked at their bench and counted 6 coaches sitting there?

Marshallman-- I am not from Eastern but most people I know that really know basketball and not just "talk up" their own team on SEOPS wasn't sure Minford could win this game. Eastern is really well coached and have some good players. We weren't sure how they would match up to Minford's athleticism but now we know--pretty darn well. I was a little surprised at the score but not at the win. I think the difference between Minford's games with Clay and Eastern was Fitch knows how to break a press and get the most from his players. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.
