Symmes Valley cannot come to Clay tomorrow so they are playing the Clay/Eastern game.
That is what I am being told by both Athletic Directors.
Hope that is right...I am scheduled to officiate the freshman & jv games....

SOC I
Symmes Valley.....3-2..........2-0
Eastern................4-1..........2-0
Green..................2-2..........2-0
Clay.....................1-4..........1-1
Western...............1-5..........1-2
East.....................2-3..........0-1
New Boston..........2-3..........0-2
Notre Dame..........0-5..........0-2

Yeah, you are right. I don't see much difference except the records for the two teams. They both played Minford......Clay got drilled by 30 points and Eastern beat them by about 20. They both played Western....Clay lost and Eastern has beat them twice this year. I don't know why I would be surprised.

The Minford win by Eastern was a surprise. I don't think the games against Western and New Boston are much to brag about. (I know that Clay lost to Western). Clay lost to South Webster, Northwest and Minford, three SOCII teams and then the loss to Western (a game they should have not lost).

So, I'll give you Minford, but other than that I still don't see it as out of the question that Clay splits with Eastern again this year.

Can't brag about New Boston yet....they haven't played (I know Clay beat them at home and New Boston has been very competitive this year). Mother Nature won that match up and the way things are looking...she might go undefeated for the week.

It's not out of the question, but I was just surprised to see the majority of Clay fans feeling so confident and thought maybe a new player from Kentucky showed up to play for them or something.

Another fact that I took into consideration was that Clay is averaging 48.8 points per game and giving up 65.2 points per game.

Eastern is averaging 65.8 points per game and allowing 51 points per game.

In addition, the game is being played at Eastern. I admire your loyalty to your team, but I would have to question your reasoning other than blind loyalty.

If I was a betting man, I would take all bets and give you 10 points to compensate for the home court advantage. The Eagles should win this one by 20 or more points.

All I can say is if your surprised Clay fans are picking Clay to win, you don't have a grasp of this website. Since we all know the players and parents are mostly the ones using it, do you really expect someone with the name "clay" or "panther" in their ID to say Clay is going to lose. I would be shocked if Beaverlover said Eastern didn't have a chance. (that is assuming his name is referring to the Eastern Eagles and not something else!)

Hence the utilization of "I admire your loyalty to your team, but I would have to question your reasoning other than blind loyalty." I was attempting to get some conversation generated as to why you and the other Clay supporters were so confident (better defense, team has been working together better, coach has changed game plan, boys got new shoes for X-Mas, etc.)

Having a grasp on reality may be more questionable than someone having a grasp on this web site. I am not saying that Clay beating Eastern is impossible, but more like improbable.

My2Cents....let's hear your prediction on the game.

Mine is: Eastern - 72
Clay - 58

Yeah, you can get some good viewing material at Beaver Videos! lol

Any who......

My take on the game is and was they are both basically the same teams from last year and they split last year. I think Clay's coach is the weakest link in the game. I remember at least years 22 point loss he didn't even get them out of the locker room at half time until the refs had handed the ball to Eastern at half court. He forces them to play man to man all the time against faster smaller teams and has no press break or press (other than man to man) that works.

If Clay packs it in a bit on defense and plays some zone with the big men they have, it will be a close game. They can't have 28 TO's and go 1 for 14 from the three point line. If they try to play man to man the whole game and the coach thinks that taking open three point shots is a good idea, even though your 1 for 14 for the night, Eastern will win by 20+ points.

BTW, I only saw two post picking Clay and I think they might be "Very close" to the team. I checked out the Eastern School website to try and find out who they have won and lost to, but they only had the schedule. That is why I assumed the played NB.

PS. I was not cutting you about the "grasp", I am just saying don't expect parents and fans to get on here and pick Eastern to win. We all have to at least give the kids the confidence that they can win. I don't think anyone picked Clay to win last year over Symmes Valley or Eastern and yet they beat both of them, in only a 6 win season.

Nice post and I have yet to take offense to anything that you have said. I just enjoy some interaction and discussion prior to the game. You post very intelligently and in turn I want to ensure that I am not coming off as confrontational. That is not my intent at all......so I apologize if you have interpreted that way.

I totally understand your perspective on the game and no, I do not expect any Clay fans to pick against Clay. I do have a good recipe for crow though.....I have already had to eat mine this year. lol

Go Eagles!

Right back to you Hoggy. What I really hope to see tomorrow night (or tonight) is a good close ball game that is fun to watch. Eagles are tough in their own nest. Look for me near the concession stand with a "Taco in a bag". I think Eastern is the first place I ever had one of those, and I have been hooked ever since.

My2Cents, here is a thread from this site that The_X-Factor keeps current and up to date for SOC. He does a great job and that is where I go to get the latest.

Oh yeah, please be careful traveling out to Beaver. The road conditions and them wild cows (deer) will jump out and get you. My sister just hit one not too long ago.

BeaverLover, here is a good idea for your Avatar. I am still laughing at your post! Come to think of it.....the majority of people love Beaver!

Yes it is Kahn, the Freshman boys play at 4, then the JV game would be around 5:30 and I think they are having their homecoming, so the varsity game should start around 7 to 7:30 pm. I am coming up at the Bengals halftime, so don't announce the score. I am going to watch the end when I get home.

Great prediction Hoggy, you were right on. Good win for the Eagles, keeps them undefeated in the league. Anyone have any stats on this one, didn't make it out tonight

Clay had 14 to's the first half and were only down by 13 so they played pretty hard most of the time tonight
