Re: PHS! What are u thinking?
If your up by 40 points with 3 or 4 minutes left in the game the end of the bench should be in the game. I think that coach should be bopped on the head for that one. The guys on the end of the bench work hard all week they should get some playing time and that would have been a perfect oppertunity to get them some. If you only wanna sub 8 or 9 deep during the game thats okay but to be up by that many and still have your starters in. That coach is just asking for his starters to get hurt.
Re: PHS! What are u thinking?
I have no problem with Peebles other than every year someone is averaging ungodly numbers scoring wise, then I go to a tournament game and they look over matched against someone that's decent. Everyone has an opinion ,I thought the Seaman kid was Peebles' best player in the ZT game. You cannot dismiss that statement. I was told they ran it up against a young Southeastern team. As far as beating ZT earlier this year, I wonder what a district rematch would be like with ZT at full strength. The Haynes kid is very close after what I saw last night vs. LE with a few minutes that ZT's coach let him play.
I stated earlier I applaud those coaches out there that schedule very tough non-league game in order to test their teams. It also tests players and shows you how good a player really is against good competition. Who else does Peebles play in non-league games?

South Point at home(who we beat at their place last yr), we would have gladly played ZT with or without Haynes. The Indians have some very good games in the SHL this year with the now undefeated Eastern Warriors(Who beat fairland as handily as the burg managed to accomplish if I remember correctly), Manchester(who beat an Ironton team which everyone seems to think could go deep), and Ripley(who would be a thorn in the side of every team you mentioned on your earlier post).

Re: PHS! What are u thinking?
They only have 3 non-league games left.
Green (Blowout)
South Point (I believe someone had them listed in their trash talking list??)
Paint Valley
And everyone keeps saying what if ZT was at full strength and all that nonsense. Peebles was at about 50% when they played in the tourney last winter. Basketball isn't a game of "what if's." Time will only tell if Peebles is overrated. But as for now they're lookin pretty tough, and I expect them to continue to play their starters in the fourth quarter like any other competitive team would.

As if nobody has noticed. The reason Peebles doesn't make a big tourney run is we aren't deep enough. How do we get deeper? Maybe jerk your starters earlier!I think it is all sbout PADDING THEM STATS, maybe they are trying to get more college looks at certain players. All i know is when tourney time comes, you better be able to play 32 minutes and i don't see that at O.U.. We all seen what happened against Ironton 2 years ago and against Z.T. last year!

A boy about 6`7 thats built like a football player that can play basketball is the answer to a deep tourny run... thats what i notice. That is the only thing peebles is missing.

They will have one next year in sophomore Jacob Daniels, he just turned 15 and is alittle over 6'4".

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
you hit it right on the head Indian man....Peebles has been a big boy away from a good tourney run more than once. Peebles has been running 7/8 kids in and out all season and they are looking very good. It's so easy when a team is having some success to get on here and try and come up with all the reasons they will fail.....true basketball fans will celebrate the successes of the kids and the program and not just try to cut it down. Only 4 teams in the state of Ohio are going to become state champs....that doesn't mean everyone else should throw in the towel. This is not the NBA or even college...it's High School basketball.

followthru those are very valid points, unless, John Lawhorns system is not made to go "deep" that's just not how he does things. So not going deep means he should never take his starters out of the game to get them ready for tourneys right??

and everyone seems to point out these mismatches, what 6'7" footballish player can guard eric collier off the dribble?? The mismatches go both ways.

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
GoBigRed, it could be that johnny doesn't like to go deep on the bench.i think he could let the Daniels kid get a little bit of playing time to get ready for the tourney. As far as Collier taking somebody of the dribble, i haven't noticed too many post feeds to him.He works his butt off and gets put backs. If you have 2 decent and physical guards and 1 big man that can rebound, that is the way you beat Peebles.Slow the game down and run half court sets.doesn't that sound familiar-Z.T.-Alexandria.I thought so!
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Daniels is getting experience right where he needs to be.....playing 4 quarters of JV basketball. This is a kid who pretty much overnight grew to the size he is and he is just now starting to get it all together, getting coordinated...etc... He has a lot to learn and a lot of maturity to gain. He needs to be right where he is for now.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
If you would've actually read my post you would've seen where I said "off the dribble" I mentioned nothing about post feeds. And if any team has two decent physical guards and a big man that can rebound, they're going to be a good team? Also, everyone knows that we choked in those two games last year, I think we were up by around 14 going into the half at Alex, and gave it away in the second, and we played horrible against ZT, BUT that was a different team last year so forget about it, we're talking about the 2009-10 Peebles Indians.
Your exactly right about Coach Lawhorn not liking to go deep on the bench by the way, hence, "his system".

In the game against Alexander we were up 8 with 1:30 left in the game. A freak performance highlighted by a 4 point play and a host of fouls behind the 3 point line by Kyle? Barnhouse gave Alex. the win.

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
I don't know about anyone else but I am pumped for the Eastern @ Peebles game on Jan. 8th, should be a decent test for the Indians!
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
some of you guys are amazing. the members of the nit pickers club. why don't you at least wait until they lose a game,(if they do) to start all of your whining. some of you have very short memories as it wasn't too long ago you were begging for wins.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
