I was just on Rt. 33 ... the drive to Athens from The Plains was the same as it was yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that.
Wonder how rt 33 was at 10:00 tonight when people would have been traveling home from the game? Also keep in mind that people would be traveling other roads too. Don't forget once the bus returns to school those kids have to drive home from there. If you are the person making the call to postpone or play, do you want to be responsible if one of those kids is involved in an accident and badly injured or worse?

Re: Will Blizzard Cause Cancellations?
I understand that statement - but I'm not sure last night qualified as being so bad that a decision had to even be made ...
Vinton County traveled Rt. 50 to Albany ... Nelsonville-York had to travel from Buchtel to Wellston ... Wahama went to STEWART last night, have you ever been to Stewart? Its a darn curvy road ... Southern made it over to Belpre.
Each school/teams have a different situation ... the fact is Meigs and Athens are seperated by a major highway - they could have easilly played last night. If its o.k. for the rest of the TVC teams to play, then it should be o.k. for the only two TVC-Ohio schools that didn't.
What is funny is how perception changes so quickly ... lets get into a harsh winter (like I have seen numerous times over the years) and have games postponed and cancelled left and right ... after you have 5 or 6 of those kind of days - you would have looked at yesterday/last night and said "hey, the roads are clear finally, we need to play tonight!" ..... but since it was the first sight of snow - some panicked and cancelled games way to early in the day.
I went to Albany last night, had the cruise set at 70 mph on my rear wheel drive car ... and there was still green grass in the median ... basically, yesterday was just a pretty normal winter day in Ohio, IMO.
I have a feeling after last years mild winter, that we're do for a lot more snow and bad weather this season ... we live in OHIO for goodness sake, we have snow and a winter here ... you can't just go cancelling every game with the first site of some white stuff falling from the sky.
