pfloyd: What are the Massey Ratings?.........we have already won at Warren!! :122245 ........this season has been a lot of fun, Portsmouth is very proud of these Trojans!! I never thought at the beginning of the 2013-2014 hoops year that we would have a chance to be in this position!!

The Trojans have had 4 easy wins after the Florida trip, but tonight it won't be that way.........we will have to play 4 outstanding quarters of basketball to win!!

Great to see biggdowgg "back" on SEOPS!!.

congrats to Warren on a great played game and best of luck into the rest of your season, always great to talk to ex coach and coach Maddox both great guys Portsmouth scored 2 points in the first period , you can not beat good teams like warren wth those numbers although the Trojans did come back and cut it to 2 points in the 3rd after trailing by as many as 14 "I think" .

Trojans need to shake this one off quick as they will play another tough team tomorrow evening in Fairfield Christian in the wellston tourney...been hearing a lot about the carpenter kid, cant wait to see him play.

Warren got to see the Carpenter Kid (MAN) first hand and he is the real deal. I think he dropped 39 on the WARRIORS when they played.

Warriors playing solid basketball on both ends of the court. Hope we continue to improve with each game we play . FC is a very good team but Portsmouth is more than capable of winning. And yes Carpenter is a handful! GO BLUE !

... congratulations to Coach Maddox and the Big Bad Blue of Warren on avenging the 60-66 loss to Portsmouth early in the season by turning the tables on the Trojans picking up the road "W" in Portsmouth 68-57 ... both teams need help from Gallia/Logan/ or Jackson to break the deadlock at the top of the SEOAL ... I told trojandave that my Logan Purple would get someone at home this season (Warren or Portsmouth) we will see as both have to visit Jim's Gym ...

Pfloyd I read what was posted and did not read into it. I just had to get Trojandave and biggdowgg fired up before I got there. It worked!! Bigdowgg was one of the first people I saw when I walked in. I got a phone call from Jackson before I got to my car before I left wanting to know if I had lost my mind posting that. I love that. My wife tells me every day I am not right.

To the game; great game for the Warriors. The defense took the paint away from Portsmouth and the offense got off to a good start. To hold the Trojans to 2 points in the first qt. now thats doing something right. I will bet even Trojandave will have to go way back in his books to tell us the last Trojan team to only score 2 points. Good defense wins game, we know from the first meeting. Rebounding was the other key factor in a game like this one. Again the Warriors won this battle. I may post more later but will give stats now.

Warren
25-48 field goals 52%
3-10 3s 30%
13-20 foul shots 65%
33 rebounds
8 turnovers

Portsmouth
16-53 field goals 30%
6-18 3s 33%
5-11 foul shots 45%
25 rebounds
14 turnovers

Patton 27 points, French 16 points, Drayer 11 points. I will have to check but I think Patton had 10 rebounds.
Oliver 24 points and Allison had 15 for Portsmouth.

Pretty darn good week for the Warriors beating Hartley 63-52 on a neutral court at West Muskingum then making the long ride to P'town and knocking off a very good Portsmouth Trojan squad last night 68-57 ... Warriors travel to New Lexington to take on the Panthers Tuesday night before hosting Fairfield Christian back at the WarriorDome on Saturday 2/1 ... the BIG games keep coming for the Warrior Blue ... Strength of schedule goes to Coach Maddox and his Warriors ... as WHS will be taking on Athens Monday Feb 3rd followed by a 2 loss Fort Frye team on Tuesday 2/4 (one of those losses TO Warren) ...

... thanks for the napkin stats Coach ... looks like the Warriors negated the PHS speed, took care of the ball (only 8 TOs) AND put the ball in the bucket ... great job by the Warrior TEAM - well done ...

Great win for the Warren over a very talented Portsmouth squad last night. IMO Portsmouth is one of the best DIII teams in the district. Sky Oliver played a great game for the Trojans dropping 24. Defense and Reece Patton playing "Big boy Basketball" leading the Warriors with 26 was huge in securing a Warrior victory. Early on Warren dominated in the paint scoring close easy buckets. While playing shutdown D holding Portsmouth to 2 points in 1st quarter.
The Trojans showed the ability to fight back and several times had possession of the basketball trailing by 2 looking to tie or take the lead. Each time the Warriors found a way to dig down deep and not let Portsmouth top that emotional hill by coming up with a stop.
Like I said earlier Portsmouth along with Valley look to be the best DIII teams in the district. I felt the Trojans were better than AP #6 Cols Bishop Hartley who the Warriors played at the Rt 40 Classic. Kyrie Allision is outstanding. I look for the Trojans to make a long tourney run come March.

GO BIG BAD BLUE!

Congratulations to the Warriors on the win.........and to our Trojans for a great comeback after a very slow start.........Warren exploited their inside game much more this time which was quite different than the first meeting. Reece Patton played another great game, as he made a huge 3 point play with the score 47-45 Warren. Evan French had a nice game as well. Portsmouth made a spirited run, but the Warriors answered every time. Sky Oliver had a coming out game with 24 points. This is exactly what the Trojans needed as they head into February and tournament time. He showed that PHS's offensive game is not just Kyre Allison and everybody else. His outside shooting since the beginning of the year has been outstanding. Allison played his usual good game, and freshman Kendall Reynolds pitched in 7 points.

Since the beginning of the year, Oliver has had games of 15, 19, 19, 11, and 24 for a 17 PPG Avg.

Despite the loss, the Trojans might actually be a better team because of it, mainly because of the emergence of Sky Oliver's offensive game inside and out on the perimeter. I look for Warren to be a really tough team to deal with in the tournament if they play they way they did last night, because they beat a very good team on the road in PHS.

Great to talk to ex-coach78, WarriorBlue, and Coach Maddox after the game. All 3 were very gracious in victory.

GO TROJANS!! Hopefully the weather will cooperate so that we can get some games in and some positive momentum with it!!
